The problem with AA is that he’s just not taking good opportunities to go on the offense.

AA and Kim Astrup, two players who are equally frustrating to watch

When AA was in a comfortable position to take the 1st Game, he decided to stop attacking and let Naraoka back into the game, then in the key moments he insisted on playing flat pushes that consistently put him in a disadvantage and lost the game.

In the second game 2 he stopped smashing in the red zone and tried to grind down his opponent only to lose points on long rallies. His legs and head were gone.

    Shame.

What is wrong with this crowd. Why are they always booing against Kodai? I was rooting for Antonsen, but the crowd was so annoying that I cheered for Kodai instead, even though Antonsen vs. KV finals would be more hyped with the crowd involved.

Honestly, I don't appreciate Naraoka as much as Kunlavut.

Congratulations to Kunlavut for opening a new era for Thai Land men's singles with the title of world champion.

Naraoka never had a title (except for the 100 in Vietnam tour) and he always lost in the final.

There is Nguyễn Hải Đăng (who lost to Popov this tournament), he has playstyle like Nguyễn Tiến Minh. His idol was Momota (I heard that, not sure). He built his game like Momota's style.

Another one is Lê Đức Phát, he was tall and play like Lee Zii Jia's style.

But you know, our problem was not much people (authorities) take care of badminton.

"Systemic and operational problem" (hope you can understand)

Yeah, I was annoyed too at the Danish crowd booing Kodai, it reflects badly on the home crowd, the host nation, when the opponent did nothing to elicit or provoke it.

He lost to himself, he was controlling and dominating but then became comfortable and passive in the end. He did not need to aim for the lines but decided such anyway, and made lost out on 3 points this way. Shame.

Unfortunately no, as far as I can see. No new Vietnamese men's single players have emerged in the last 14 years to match Tien Minh both in terms of skills, talents and dedication. Also, the support from sport governing bodies in Vietnam is just straight up trash, so most players are on their own. They want better sparring partners? Better pay out of pocket to hire one. They want physiotherapist and coach to help fine tune their training and recovery? Well better hire them yourself cause the gov ain't gonna pay a cent. It is just outrageous to see how the Vietnamese sport authorities treat the athletes. Meanwhile, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have much better support for their players. Without proper supports, even a good athlete can only do so much. Tien Minh was such an exceptional case that I think we will not see being manifested in another player anytime soon.

At the moment, the highest ranking player is Nguyen Thuy Linh in the WS category (Top 30). She definitely got what it takes to push further into top 20, but she needs a coach and better support in order to do so
