It's a given that many players did well in a major competition would skip the one immediately following.

Unsurprisingly, Axelsen would show up to get something back. But it is a surprise that Shi Yuqi has not withdrawn, yet.

Perhaps he is looking to get a match and video recording against Viktor.

Li Shi Feng vs LZJ is a spicy first round match. Overall men's singles has a pretty good lineup.

Feng/Huang also withdrew due to injury.

Zheng/Huang, Chen/Jia, CYF and HBJ didn't bother in the first place.

LSF is in a making up for lost time situation. That left SYQ a curious case, especially given how he faded away in the AE final.

That will be really good for SYQ as he must get to know his archrivals and most formidable and fearsome opponents better.

It's high time he learns to face everything head-on, yes, grab the bull by the horns and not shy away from any difficult situation if he is serious about making a successful comeback.

He is 27 already, no more time to lose. If only he had not screwed up the AE final, then I'd believe his confidence level will jump up significantly, from which he can build on it.

For his case, I'd wouldn't say it's success is built on success. Instead let me quote - "
Success is not built on success. It's built on failure. It's built on frustration. Sometimes it's built on catastrophe." - Sumner Redstone

Lol dun he already have one from India earlier this year? Maybe he’s looking to build his confidence back after the All England finals disaster (usually reaching the final of a super 1000 is an achievement but not in his case). I mean if he could beat victor, that will help

    Early exit for The Babies,
Dunno why, maybe fatigue or devastated by their defeat at AE and the lost of their best friend.

Weng Hongyang must be flabbergasted, faulted at the net after he has played some amazing near-impossible shots to "win" the point .

Srikanth , as usual giving freebies in terms of his errors. Smashing out, smashing at net, service errors ,what not. Every possible errors in the book . I am done with him. Instead of completing the match in 2, he finished it in 3 that too fortunately the score gap between the two was huge , that's why, the chinese could not come back even with the help of errors from Srikanth. Otherwise, it would be him who would have had the last laugh.

I´m surprised Antonsen is not playing in Swiss open. He went from dubai to only play all England and then went back. He didn´t play Getman open either.
