Just caught the game between Magnus Johannesen v Anders Antonsen in Danish Open, can our Danish friends fill me in on Magnus?, couldn’t believe what I was watching, he led the first game 16-1 and beat Anders in straight sets, are we witnessing a up and coming Danish star, noticed Jan O keep peeping over from the next court, don’t think he could believe it too.
guess this is the right thread (guess alternative i should have made a new thread). Badminton Denmark mix up the doubles. 4 new double pairs is put together (2 MD and 2 XD). Mens doubles: Mads Kolding and Frederik Søgaard Niclas Nøhr and Mathias Christiansen Mixed double: Niclas Nøhr and Amalie Magelund Mikkel Mikkelsen and Rikke Søby Carsten Mogensen the former partner of Mads Kolding reties, as he did not see himself as part of the new project. Niclas Nøhr and Mathias Christiansen are going to play together when it makes sense without compromises there XD. Sara Thygesen is going to focus on WD, and therefor Niclas Nøhr and Amalie Magelund is going to play together. Mikkel Mikkelsen and Rikke Søby is going to play together, as Mathias Bay-Smidt (Rikke søby current partner) is set to undergo a Hip surgery and therefor is out for 6-9 month. Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup and Mathias Christiansen/Alexander Bøje is going to continue playing together. These two pairs plus the established Astrup/Rasmussen are expected to fill Denmark Thomas Cup roster following the retirement of Boe, Mogensen and Conrad.
Will be interesting to see how he does. He's very skillful, deceptive and with strong defense but on the shorter side. You can tell he's gotten a lot physically stronger but seems to be struggling against the taller and faster opponents in the open categories compared to juniors.
In yesterday's match against CARRAGGI in Hylo open, Red card to Magnus!. Btw, Ms. Tina Baun? along with Kenneth was in Coach's Chair.. I admire her demeanour (not much continuous advice/talk/facial reaction, just watched/observed seriously) in court side..
That's what the Danes are good at, clinical observation, every detail analysed and tactics implemented. I posted in the Indian Pro Player thread regarding Lakshya Sen’s freaky lost to Merkle last week, he was dumped by his teammate Christo Popov 12 and 14, theres no thread for the Hylo Open.
Just watched the match from your post, it seems Jonannesen lost his head from 17-12 in the 2nd set, his anger was boiling over as he failed to deal with Carraggi’s play, especially his into the body smashes, the umpire was very firm with the court violation, so much so she refused to let him go and gave him a stern telling off and he spoke back cumulating to the red card.
