I'm not sure that's what he means. I believe he is talking about players who want contracts to be part of the national team but insists on dealing with them individually rather than with the representative who was chosen to negotiate on behalf of a group of players. I'm not sure how this would translate into professional players ceasing to exist.
Steen update tweet, "Mia Blichfeldt has chosen to sign the proposal forwarded individually to the players by Badminton Denmark. As of now she is the only player who has done so. The deadline set by BD is 25th January. Players who don't sign will not be selected for EC, WC, WMTC, EMTC."
So, if by 25th January the players don't sign the proposal, they still can play in Open tournaments as independent players but will not be selected as DEN representative in bigger events like EC, WC (not sure what WMTC or EMTC are)?
Wow. I guess the former players have had enough. It would be interesting to see Denmark's team lineups in the upcoming team or championship events.
You can look at Steen's line-up prediction. I don't know if the former players made the right choice or not.
Maybe player also tied with their signed contact with sponsor.. It's seems like in next couple of years badminton tournament will not depend much to National associations. My 2 cents.
I don't understand this. Steen is saying: Steen also says this: Why would the Danish National team throw away $1.3 million USD? They could easily use that $1.3 million USD to pay for the travelling costs, food costs, and housing of the Denmark players. Maybe even give the Denmark players a small salary too.
Maybe that was why there were no Danish players today to accompany AA? They all flew back for this new agreement? Haha Not as if that AA needed anyone with him today. But anyway, I guess this is a great news for BD.
Good to see they resolved the issue. In a weird way, if the players found enough money from sponsors to go independent, that's also healthy because it means there is more money for the players in badminton. However, of course it's the best if the players rejoin the national team. Steen says the Denmark Coaches were claiming they could turn their "second string" players into world class players. I don't buy that for one second. Look at the Korean national team. Ever since their top MD players went independent, Korea's MD just sucks and they haven't replaced the top MD players. The top MD players for Korea are still the independent players that left the national team. Also, some of the independent players are really young, including Viktor and Antonsen. Viktor and Antonsen can probably play at the top level for the next decade. So to lose such young players like Viktor and Antonsen from the national team is a huge blow. Good to see they solved all the problems and the national team can regroup again. They need to do this for the 2020 Olympics. Look at Korea. At the rate they are going, I don't see who will lead the charge for MD to the 2020 Olympics from the Korean national team. If Korea wants to win gold for MD at the 2020 Olympics, they need to bring back their independent players because their national team MD players are just bad right now.
Yeah I guess it was just a bluff from the Association side. anyway, if you look at the replies to that tweet, there were someone who joked that if the Association gave in to this agreement today because AA just won the title today (and against Momota)
BREAKING! After All England, Boe will partner with Conrad as an independent pair. His usual partner, Mogensen will partner with Kolding.
Do you have a source for that? It seems rather strange, as Boe and Conrad were (if I'm not mistaken) the front-court players in their partnerships, while Mogensen and Kolding were the back-court players
boe's facebook page mogensen's facebook page https://bwfworldtour.bwfbadminton.c...AlnlVt1MBQB--dY_24H9F6rE_VRuzZYSvqG5aBq9G3oP8 you are right, but hey, what may seem unusual to us could prove to be a fresh challenge for them. i can't wait to see the new combos play.
