MS FINAL TOMORROW - Lin Dan vs. Taufik Hidayat - Discussion

Taufik Hidayat Vs. Lin Dan 19:00 PST

Which will probably mean I'll have to get up at about 5am to see it :(

Taufik probably has the advantage, although Lin Dan has had his fair share of experience with gritty 3 setters....

My money is still on Taufik, best technique in the world and has an advantage head-to-head (Taufik winning their last two meets).

I feel Lin Dan has been playing better and better everyday. His game just now against Gade was amazing to watch. If he is able to keep up his improving form, Taufik will have a really hard time I think. And plus taufik will have to start up quickly and not give Lin Dan a lead.

well today lin dan showed why he is #1 todasy against gade - stamina wise, tactics, keeping his nerve and playing style, he's the best in the world, without a doubt. but i like taufik more :D

Personally i don't think Lin Dan played his best today. Peter gade was good, but he was playing catching up most of the time. Strategy wise Peter lost and also Peter have to many unforced errors compare to Lin Dan.

Tomorrow's matchup between Taufik and Lin Dan will be a classic match.

When i met up with both of them and ask what is their chances if they meet in the finals and play against each other. Suprisingly both answer 50/50.

Well, Taufik is an amazing player. He has a backhand that's just out of this world. However, remember when Taufik last beat Lin Dan at Singapore open, Taufik wasn't sure whether it was he who beat him or Lin Dan who beat himself.

Both are top players - quite possibly the two best of this current era. One's a pure natural talent while the other's a pure explosive beast.

I think it's always a 50-50 when these two giants meet.

At their top levels its 50/50, but based on performance relative to their opponents (whos skills are equal), Taufik actually does have the edge, 6/10.
But if you're talking improvement, well I was skeptic about LD even passing his first match against Sato, and I must say, he almost fell.
Taufik had the same problem with Boonsak, but he had the potential of winning the second round. Today, LinDan's match against Gade, was simialr to Taufik's first match against Boonsak, he could of won, but lost the gas. If your going to extrapolate a chart with their performance so far, day after day, you may say LinDan takes it 6/10.
Either way, its a tight match, if both are at their physical top that neither have used for ages, then it'll be a match like YangYang and MortenFrost....:D
    Guys perpare your video cassettes:D:D:D

Simply I just HOPE that Lin Dan beat Taufik out of his butt. :D Between Indo and China, I would still prefer China to win.

Wouldn't lin dan become too confident that he'll win and end up losing? :D

Classic match between Natural talent and Shear Strenght (explosive beast as you called), further more in neutral battle ground.

Agree, 50-50 ! LD is more consistent than Th but when TH at his best, he is very nice to watch, dancing around with occasional explosiveness. In contras, LD is lethal, jump smash, dives, spectacular !

Who can keep their nerves and stay calm, focus and stick to their game plan will win.

    taufik vs lindan

My money is on taufik, however, he will need to raise the game to about 20% better if he needs to beat lindan. Hopefully he can play like the singapore open finals. Seems to be a player of big occasion though. go fik go!:D

In order for Lin Dan to win, he needs to be faster and attack the net shots more aggressively, that should be something to look out for. Taufik already has the ability to defeat Lin Dan but he lacks the determination late in the matches. I like these two equally so i am cheering them both on!

Yeah I think PG definitely had an upperhand on Lin today at the net. Taufik is a strong net player so Lin will have to take more initiative and approach fast.

I dont know if your all notice.. Taufik's hand is very tricky during the game... It is very hard for his opponent to predict and read his shots.. If the opponent anticipates his shot they are in big trouble
Lin Dan is a player that anticipates a lot just like LCW... and LCW couldn't perform to his maximum because there wasn't enough time to execute his shots..
Lin Dan relies alot on his winner shot, the jumpsmash.. as long as Taufik can control him and stop him from executing jumpsmash like in singapore open.. Taufik can wrap it up quickly

go taufik all the way plz :D
