Yes. There is also one more thing to notice. Sometimes like Endo when you are in a final and you end up on the loosing side most of the times, it definitely keeps happening. Not sure why. Game is cruel. But i am not sure if 24-22 and 21-19 gives really a judgement as to which pair is better, but 21-10, 21-11 does.
Oh how many in crunch moments which cost them the game which matters most? How about Endo missing flick serve when they were 18-18 in second set? One can keep going on. I never consider serves falling on line as some beauty or something or misjudging and winning points to be perfectly placed. For me it's Fluke and luck. Cheers
yes, the draw is crucial just like WC but also they are not young anymore. They needed some luck (in the draw), imo. But its not like they have their fate in others hand , unlike the XD Champion.
Watanabe doing better and better in big game situations but Endo always go into internal meltdown when the points get tight - especially in finals situations. He is always calm at any other time except when he as to serve at decisive moments. He's got at most another year (or two) to make the most of his healthy partnership with the young Watanabe. I mean, the pair definitely has potential to win but they simply can't stop choking. It is a huge upgrade from his days with Hayakawa so I hope they win a title or two in the coming season at least.
Which pair ? yang pohan and his partner ? even if they somehow lose to that pair (which I doubt it because almost like 99% of the time when the score is tight they almost always win it in the end) I don't think they'll lose to wang/lee, just look at the difference in the way they play in that last group match then the sf.
Look carefully Endo body language when he replied the serve to the net @17-14. If you look closely you can see where the momentum changes. He blew it though. MD is all mentality , tight scores How many points did Endo give away .. its basically all the points in the end it was Endo who gave it away.
it could be the style counter against another style, like what GC/steen/MF said previously. its a close match. game 1 was decided by a very close service line call. game 2 could have gone japan's pair if not for Endo's errors. if there is game 3, it could go both ways. in matches nowadays, it all depends who play better when both sides are not that far apart in quality. you don't win by reputation, you win by playing better (and being fitter too ) than your opponent.
It's mental.. Like how minions can't get pass endo yuta.. Endo yuta has mental block against daddies...
That's why I called it a skill. But again, luck in draw is different So yeah, in this case they belong in the same sentence.
Yeah , the problem is they are not winning titles. Not even get to Final often enough. Had the opportunities, blew it. Not sure if Endo can sleep tonight losing by such a thin margin.
I hope ahsan/hendra can meet them at the olympics. I'll never forget that loss against endo/hayakawa at rio, it's their first ever loss against them at the most important event too...
in 2014 thomas cup final, Endo and his partner came from a game down to win the first MD match, and level the tie 1-1, after LCW won the first match. Endo/Watanabe has won a few titles as a partnership. they don't lost every finals contested.
