I broke a string last night and my 66F has been in for around 3 weeks. I rarely break strings because i use 68 gauge and above. However, I like 66F so much I'm prepared to put up with the odd break. At least my racket will be restrung and ready for the Victor demo event at All Englands, which I'll be hosting. Most of the players I string for opt for BG65Ti. However, they are all moving over to 69F following my recommendation. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
What does the 69F feel like? I have a friend who breaks thing string like nothing, so hes been using a 0.70mm gauge string.
69 Fire is really nice and much better than many 69 and 70 gauge strings. I'm testing hybrid version by mixing 69 mains with 66 crosses. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
You broke a string? I didn't see it on the news. You might be the only bloke in the world who breaks fewer than me, actually!

My ZM66FP fire review comparing to NBG98 and ZM62F I strung ZM66FP fire on NS3000. String easy: NBG98 > ZM66FP > ZM62F My feel is ZM66FP is not beta polymer as in ZM62F string surface smoothness: NBG98 > ZM66FP > ZM62F Play feel hardness: ZM66FP < NBG98 < ZM62F Power: ZM66FP > ZM62F = NBG98 NBG98 rated 10 in power, ZM66FP definitely > 10 Sound and Crispiness: ZM66FP < NBG98 < ZM62F String Movement: NBG98 < ZM66FP < ZM62F Tension retain: Unknow Durability: Unknown
Initial tests on mixing strings to create a hybrid are proving very positive indeed. I used 69F in the mains and 66 in crosses. Reports back so far is that the feel is great and the player is loving it. They break a lot of strings and so far the new Ashaway is holding nicely compared to others already tested. I'm using 66F in my rackets and really like it. I don't break strings often but when i do it's always the centre cross string that snaps. I haven't tested 62 gauge yet but will give it a go after the All Englands. Then I think I'll test a hybrid of 66Fand 62F and see what that's like. Paul
Isn't it the centre mains that usually break first? But if in your case the centre crosses break first, then shouldn't you put the thicker string on the crosses?
Visor I'm testing hybrid with players that break a lot of strings which are usually the mains. It's one those things that I have broken two centre cross strings recently, each racket had a different string type so there isn't a trend yet to work from. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
How many of you prestretched fire? I usually don't as I've a deadweight. My 25lb job where I did the cross string twice, effectively prestretching, rings like a 27. I'll have to send another set to mark or Dave and get them to double string it. Also factor in that it takes me 3x as long
I prestretch everything by at least 5%. It helps maintain tension even for strings that dont lose it much without killing the feel
I prestretch my strings at 20% all the time. Fell of the strings stay almost the same for most of the time. I got to say I am impressed that the 62 fire is holding every well with lots of power. I have my N90 Strung with 62fire at 28x30lbs and its feels great. Usually strings like this will break after a day or so and its been 2 week with out any signs of breakage.
At 20% prestretch...!? pretty much killed the wonderful characteristics of the string, in exchange for the durable tension, of course...
20% prestretch on a 30 lb cross means it would reach 36 lb for a short time... Are you sure your store will honour any warranty on that racket?
