what a match...!! unfortunately, LZJ racket looks over the net. Honestly that shuttle looks like it wont go over the net if he didnt touch it. Unfortunate but a fair call imo.
That shuttle really didn't look like it was going over to Zii Jia's side.... so I'm on the side that he faulted.
Props to umpire for making that crucial decision at 19-19. Zi Jia he played really well, has improved so much.
Yeah it was a tough decision, but I think he got it right. if LZJ didn't tried to kill it the shuttle could easily fall on his side too, idk, very tricky situation.
On my first viewing of the slow motion replay, it was doubtful whether Viktor's net shot would go over the net, and then LZJ tapped it at the net. I think the umpire made a good call. If the shuttle wasn't going to cross the net anyways, the only way LZJ could tap it is if his racket went over the net. But that was a big point at a big moment. For Viktor, I can't believe a world champion like him can't do a decent net serve at this level. You can see Viktor lost confidence in his net serve so he started to flick it, which LZJ was anticipating. Hope Viktor can fix it by tomorrow.
Well, i think VA is going to win it anyway if he has serve properly.. Gifted at least 4 points in the final stretch alone.. But yeah, not sure whats the tension on him. Serving in men singles should be easier than in men doubles.
He simply can't serve properly when he's nervous, seen it too many times. this match reminds me a bit of 2016 dubai ss finals between viktor and tian houwei.
I think shuttle was right over the net, then the racket can go over - so once again - robbery by faking bwf and their clowns
Viktor only beat Tian Houwei in the Dubai SS finals because Tian Houwei was nervous too. Both of them were nervous and played really, really bad. But Tian Houwei played just a little worse than Viktor.
So I tried pausing the video at the exact moment LZJ hits the shuttle. Very close call but I think the umpire was correct
The problem is, you don't have a guarantee that video review will provide a significantly greater number of correct results. Ultimately, it will also come down to the judgement of a human being. VAR in football has shown that it will result in outrageous calls as well, only this time without the excuse of it being a split second decision.
