Team MAS has won it 3-1, after Lim Pek Siah/Ng Hui Lin beat Yao Lei/Shinta Mulia Sari 21-17, 21-15 in 37 mins. So, they should make it to Jakarta.
Cheah came on board after 2000. Lim/Chor already showed their potential under Morten Frost, won the CG silver in 1998. After the 2002 CG, Lim and Ang suddenly wanted to quit national team, I believe caused by some form of disagreement with Cheah. Fiery character, was our Cheah Soon Kit then. Now he has mellowed a lot. Anyway congrats to MAS for making the Finals. Pretty sure Asia will get 4 spots, Scotland's ranking is quite far back.
the japanese girls have won as well, it's going to be another hard match against them, which i doubt we'll win.
Team Japan also makes it 3-1 in their match against Chinese-Taipei after Satoko Suetsuna/Miyuki Maeda beat Chou Chia-Chi/Yang Chia-Tseng 21-11, 23-21.
Well.I am glad that Malaysia make it.Guys, remember to stay tune on rtm1 tomorrow to catch to live action.
Thats great to know that Uber Cup Team Malaysia manage to win their tie against Singapore. Its a close call.
Sorry, thought Cheah was already on board in 1998. Yeah, read news that Lim Pek Siah & Ang left due to they cant stand Cheah's hmmmm more demanding character. In 2007, Cheah still had the fire side of him left. Oh yeah, Lim Pek Siah also partnered Joanne Quay for a spell, bf Joanne went to NZ. That makes 4 partners or so in 10 years. That means Lim is adaptable to different partners.

All matches were played in straight sets. A bit surprise of WMC's loss. XAY must have played well. Anyway, congratulations to both MAS men and women team on making it to the semi-finals.
As I've posted previously, I don't expect our girls to win but I'm at least glad that our young Aiying is able to beat your no.1 Mew Choo in straight games. I'm sure WMC's loss is of concern to the Malaysian coaches coming so near the AE next month and the UC finals in May. However I'm disappointed that our WD1 continues to do badly although I think the Malaysians had a higher ranking. I feel that our first doubles pair has not made any appreciable improvement. Wonder whose coaching them now - Eng Hian? As for the rest of the Singapore girls, I hope they learn from the experience and be better prepared the next time. This exposure will do them good. As for Malaysia, the real test will come when they meet the Koreans!
Sometimes, when BAM has this problem, the pairs are split. You think SBA could make it work? Maybe could turn out 2 strong pairs ..... since both Li Yujia and Jiang Yanmei are highly experienced and could provide leadership role.
Only one spot difference, Li Yujia/ Jiang Yanmei are World No 10, Msia's WPT/CEH are no 9. Looking at the highlights Aerotus uploaded, our gals are starting to play like our MD, since Rexy now is in charge of WD too. WPT also said nowadays senior WD spar a lot with senior MD, so... I'm not sure exactly how it makes a difference for WD, we'll have to see at AE and Swiss Open.
