Wrt some of the posts, I think we should to take a kinder and more supportive approach toward people. IMO, what's more important than focusing on improving is Momota's passion for badminton. It's really important that he doesn't burn out. It would be a shame if he retires early because he lost passion for the sport because of the pressure he is getting from his fans. So, let's give him our unconditional support, regardless if he improves, so he can keep his passion for the sport alive. However, our unconditional support can increase his chances of improving.
He’s definitely not back to his prior form yet. But i see it is in him like when he beat CTC. He is juz really inconsistent. And he needs to maybe build stamina.
I mean I get what @thasan said but against CTC it was all CTC's fault. If CTC attacked more with his powerful cross smashes and cross half smashes - Momota would have been done. @thasan The thing is though - the coaching seems plain for the situation our Champ is in.
I think differently from everyone else in this thread. I think its related to his personal life/love-life. There is something bothering him beyond bearing capacity that he is unable to shift the thoughts from the path he is treading on.
Do u know something we don’t? Cant really speculate on his love life when we know nothing. We can see the coaching doesn’t work, his stamina dropping and he admitted his confidence isn’t great.
i am quite convinced he has some kind of injuries that holding him back. his performance has been dropping since his back injury against tsuneyama in the final.
I totally agree, he got to have some kind of injury at this point. He wasn't in terrific form before, but he won Indonesia Master and went to Denmark Open Final in 2021. Now he even lost to Chico Wardoyo and Zhao Junpeng (no disrespect) both of them are nowhere near TOP 20. It is really sad to see him play at this point, i hope the coaches can work out something for him. He's still 27, as long as there's no form of big injury he should be able to bounce back.
Wouldn't they disclose if he had some kind of injury? It has also been quite some time now since we last saw him.
Watched the match, he just seemed to be eating smashes; painfully sluggish. As the match progressed, Zhao was gaining aggression and Momota was fading.. He seems to lack the fire and arrogance, it’s almost like he’s too polite and just kowtowed to his opponent instead of rising to fight fire with fire… Maybe Herbalife isn’t working out and he needs to muscle up in the gym.
Check out his instagram, for the last few months he has been occasionally putting out promos for Herbalife. It’s a weird half-pyramid “Tupperware” like brand that sells weight loss/meal replacement products. That said, I have seen someone very fat lose weight and he swears by Herbalife, so maybe it’s not all fluff after all. Still, Momota clearly lacks power and speed at the moment..
Is momota not planning on defending his indonesian masters title? https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/seeds.aspx?id=F75FB4EC-43FB-4E92-98F5-DFFAD2891531
He's just doing advertising, no evidence to prove that he's vegan. If he was vegan, his career will be gone.
Look at the boys hating on proper vegan diet above. Vegan is the way to go! I support a greener Climate! I support Kento Momota! #Earthmattersmore
I mean a same lifestyle, eatstyle for more than 28 years is boring. Glad Momota is experimenting with life
I don’t think having meal replacement shakes means you’re necessarily vegan, but it does seem to suggest a mindset of going for longevity rather than pushing the body to its limits.
