Everything you said is fair comments, but please spare a thought for Xie Xingfang's feelings and stop spouting the mistress matter because it's no longer funny if repeated once too often (a few others did that too, not only you). The couple deserves their privacy and the right to lead their own lives in quiet. I do respect your intelligent analysis, otherwise.
It won't be long before LCW is forced to call it quits. Right now, he is still chasing that elusive goal whereas his nemesis and one time archrival Lin Dan is just the opposite as he has the luxury to pick and choose what he wants to do with the remaining time before he decides it's time to bow out. Winning the AE, would've been his 7th, is good-to-have but not must-have. The scintillating match with Axelsen yesterday has achieved its purpose, Yonex is probably pleased with it though it'll be even better if LD wins the title for the 7th time.
Great to see that Shi Yuqi has put the Asia Mixed Team debacle behind him and forging ahead. Best of luck tomorrow - it'll be tough but not impossible. I believe Shi Yuqi needs another one year or so to realize his full potential and be among the very best, the top 3, I hope.
It's great to see that Shi Yuqi can handle Lee Hyun Il - Lin Dan type of players. Admittedly, these type of players have their limitations But Lee Chong Wei would be a different demon tomorrow, faster than light and penetrating as a bullet. Shi Yuqi will have to keep his calm.
For sure, Shi Yuqi has not forgotten the painful lesson LCW taught him the last time they met. It's definitely Youthful Exuberance versus Experience, Reputation and Skills tomorrow. The edge is clearly with LCW, no question about it. An uphill battle for the young, inexperienced and still growing Shi Yuqi. At most expect a decent showing from him, anything more is a huge bonus, a shock victory is a dream come true, not impossible but highly improbable at this stage. Maybe in another year's time, but then, who knows, LCW might not be around anymore.
such a shame that the adcocks just did not have luck on their side at the crucial moments. a win here could do GB badminton some good after the funding cut.
Not just him, a few other "Mama" too, they really have no idea what they are talking about. These people do not even have a owned a challenger badminton title and made so many comments on those International player, saying that they are weak in the head, old age or whatever craps.
england and GB desperately needed new local champions for the all england. I feel them...they desperately wanted to win but luck was not on their side.
Ideally they could use a singles player that is allowed to travel and train consistently in other countries. I don't think the scene in the UK can birth really top level players without early international exposure and training within countries that have developed/serious competitive scenes. Rajiv is dominant here but as far as I know much of his training has been done on home soil in the national centre so he has missed out on so much growth potential being stuck on this scene training with other GB players who aren't really threatening internationally. From what I read he really enjoyed being at the IPBL simply because badminton is really something over there. Playing elsewhere for intense periods outside of tournaments would have done him a lot of favours.
Change Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying meet their first seeded opponent in the final. It is going to be difficult for the Malaysian's to win.
They also need a better (& more expensive?) coaching staff-- I listened in during the intermission coaching, and it's seemed that their English coach hasn't really caught on to the Chinese XD weaknesses and didn't come on with a real counter-strategy (they should be "avoiding" the girl who was faster than Gabby, and "hammering" the guy who was slower than Chris)... and their performance is just going to get stifled/worse with cuts to training and coaching funds. BTW, a Chinese website was wondering if Chinese/Asian sponsors/advertisers would be interested in investing in English badminton the way they invested in English Football-- these would be 2nd/3rd tier sponsors/advertisers of course (1st tier sponsors would be more interested in sponsoring English football or Danish badminton)-- wonder if the English badminton federation/industry would allow this?
i think Yonex might prefer Axelsen to win but in a close fight, given his youth and being promoter of the new Duora racket. With rising new star Shi Yuqi, the return of Momota, Axelsen might find himself going title-less for a long time. His defeat again exposed his lack of composure when things don't go his way.
May be they were not in their elements when shi yuqi defeated them. Lindan was not at all in his form yesterday when Shi yuqi defeated.
i doubt Chinese sponsors would invest in English badminton. Part of the reason behind their investment in English football is due to China motive of improving China football. despite being world superpower, China football is behind Japan and Korea. being owners of English clubs, they could arrange a couple of young Chinese to train in England to give them more exposure.
Momota will find it difficult if he enters the current circuit. It is not going to be easy. Axelsen has so many weaknesses. He is a tall player. His movement is clumsy sometimes.
