YOU HAVE TO MAKE A FEW SACRIFICES TO WIN :SAINA http://m.timesofindia.com/sports/ba...rifices-to-win-Saina/articleshow/45045017.cms EXCERPTS: " ............ gopi sir is my coach, not my mother or father that I should never leave him... it's important for people to understand that..." " If i can improve anywhere else, whether it is indonesia or malasia and i need to go there and do it because this is the time I can. I can't wait till 30 to experiment. ...............................". "........................... we have been studying on my videos and working on areas where my opponents catching me short" She is putting in tremendous effort. Hope she will do it quickly and we get back the "old" saina soon..
Where else can she train? And which country will allow a foreign player in their academy? Anyways I think, unless it is China, no other country has a women badminton program significantly better than India. It is basically the only discipline where India is top notch right now.
It's unfortunate , she does not even have a matchable sparing partner in that academy(I mean in WS). She is training with MS players in that academy( I read in some news papers).
One suggestion. Enlist the help of Taufik Hidayat, the king of back hand. Watched quite a few matches of SN, she rarely using back hand. She will overcome WSX and challenge WYH if her back hand is up to standard.
Carolina Marin went to Thailand to train before making her big step and becoming WC. Schenk trained in Malaysia. I would say Thailand got great depth and training for WS.
Nothing wrong with playing against the other gender. I played against a girl ranked internationally in a training match. The national coach was pointing out areas of her game to improve upon after our match.
How good or bad your sparring partners are, is not of primary importance. How good your own physical condition is, is.
More interested in teaching my kids to be players nowadays. Singles you really need to keep up three times a week to keep up any decent level.
May be... or May be not..... (about sparring partners). It's good .. it was said that 2 Junior MS players are helping her on court as sparring partners at the same time. Since many juniors call her as saina 'didi' (elder sister) , I hope they will make use of her presence (@Bengaluru academy) to motivate themselves to perform better(especially WS players).
cobalt you're usually quite eloquent and grammatically correct, what happened, happened?
"How good your own physical condition is, is." does appear to be grammatically correct. The ending is refers to the primary importance.
Have to disagree. Good sparring partner brings out the best in you, assuming they are slightly better and not a few levels above.
See below... Thanks for rescuing me from the wolves! What? what? What about your mental... oh never mind, that's double-redundancy... LOL! Nice one!
Have to disagree. If your physical condition won't allow you to move as quickly or efficiently, or turn or stop and redirect as quickly or efficiently, or recover from a smash or clear as quickly because you weren't fully behind the shuttle (because you were too slow because you weren't physically in top condition) you will only be able to do what that condition will allow you to. Try to do more, and you could risk injury. While practising. Which would be very embarrassing.
I almost forgot about the China Open SSP. May be it's the result of Anand-Carlsen title match which took my focus away from badminton. So I see the draw and R32 results. A few questions: 1) Which Indian TV channel is broadcasting the event? 2) Why has Sindhu withdrawn? 2) I see that Saina won her match against ST and her match is tommorow at 2pm. 2pm in bwf website means what time in IST? 5:30pm? With LXR withdrawing, Saina has a relatively easy draw. If she gives her best she should reach the finals.
