"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." - William Shakespeare
I'm very interested in this! Maybe we could open a new thread for the meaning of Asian player names? Google translator is too bad to get a good result. Very interesting for me
I wonder whether cobalt has heard of this popular song so romantically sung in our part of the world during the Fifties. "Rose, Rose, I love you Every where she goes ...."
Somehow I find both CTC and WZM somewhat laid back and indifferent. But they are both supprisingly quick on their feet and able to retrieve difficult shots at the last minute.
The poor guy was trying to conserve his energy most of the match. Then in the decider at 18 all, the side line judge called in a drop shot on his side away from the umpire that just barely touched the line (or not), which riled up CTC. He wins the service back, then when he served at 19 all, he gets called a service fault, which would have unsettled anyone else. So, match point against him he decides to inject more pace and saves it. Then in the next 2 points, remembering his service fault just minutes ago, he decides to serve high with underhand action, and when he had a chance decides to smash twice directly at Raul's body to win the match. Phew, talk about squeaking by...
I've known Chou for over 1 year now and ever since he changed coach and playing style he has been incredible and an inspiration to watch! You can see the passion and what ever match really means to him! Proud to own 2 of his jerseys and 1 of his old rackets
Just beat Tian Hou Wei in a very close game 21:14 16:21 and finally winning 21:19 with a little bit of controversy at the end Me personally feel like the right decision was made by the service judge and tournament referee as he clearly wasn't ready for all 3 serves, Hou Wei was in a hurry to serve to try and keep the momentum going from his last point but did not succeed! The reason the coach for Taiwan leaves is due to the fact there is not enough Taiwanese players that make it far on into the tournaments apart from the double pair, so it actually works out better for him to leave and provide more coaching for the players who are put out early then to stay and coach, this happened to him several times last year and the year before in tournaments played around Europe
Does that mean the coach has returned with the players with an early knockout and gone back to Taiwan? In this Bitburger open, is there another coach around?
Hi Henry, nice to have you here. For a start why don't you tell us more about CTC's background? At what age that he became interested in badminton ... Details of his training at various stages, etc, etc .... Something not found in google.
Cheung: Yes the coach returns with the players who have had an early knockout as the majority of Taiwan players do get knocked out early apart from currently CTC and the pair TSAI/LEE Hello Loh, I can ask and get the details about when he got interested in badminton etc but i'm pretty sure he had been playing right from an early age, as the main sports you can do in Taiwan due to size restrictions are Golf/Badminton/Basketball/Baseball Training was a 5mile run at 6am to then go onto the training courts for 3 hours, a break for lunch and then a further 3 hours coaching and to finish another 5 mile run at the end of the day That is 4 times a week
Have asked for his name and will get back to you! His message read: "Someone tell me to change! And I watch a lot of games!!" This was in February he sent this to me when he started to pull up the rankings
Me and my mates feel that he is taking shots around the net too low.. could have gotten it higher to have less risk of mistake. And what a Bitburger SF with THW, that final few points with controversy..... THW seems like a hotshoe though, his actions remind me of the time at Swiss Open as well.
that final few controversial points with thw, chou must learn to put his left hand up to indicate he's not ready just like many chinese players do, in order to avoid such a repeat especially when he's tired already being slow off the mark near the end of the match it seemed unprecedented that the umpire changed her mind on giving the match point to thw after being talked to by the service judge... never seen that before... but a simple hand up to indicate not yet ready to receive would have avoided the situation altogether
GC observed that actually CTC was not ready and he did not move when THW completed his serve. Neither did he attempt to return the shuttle. So CTC should not be be faulted. Same with THW's second serve. But it was all rather dramatic and it is the first time I saw CTC showing his emotions in such a fashion. Maybe he was in such a 'high' that he managed to finish his last two points rather dramatically as well. Must have been quite a shock to THW! Henry, thanks for your tidbits on CTC. Do tell us more.
Winner at Bitburger Open 2013 GP Congratulations to CTC who scored a hat-trick at the just concluded Bitburger Open by beating Scott Evans of Ireland 21-17, 21-10. His SF match with THW (Tian Houwei) should have been the Final as it was well-matched, full of excitement and controversy before CTC prevailed 21-14, 16-21, 21-19. Attached Images
