It's 'lucky' shots-vs-'well played' shots . IMHO, if players are not trained to do those good net shots, then it could be said that they have made some 'lucky' net shots. But if players are trained to do those good net shots, then it's no longer considered as 'lucky' shots, but considered as 'well played' net shots. .
lolx... were you implying that LCW trained for those "lucky" net shots? lolx.... sure BOLEH.... lar....
no matter how hard you train to hit the tape and cross over, you will not even achieve 5% success. if this is possible, why the pro need train anything else than hitting the tape and cross over? as for luck definition. when you hit the tape, is either cross over or just drop on your side. if cross, luck. if not, you make unforced error. whenever this shot happened, as good sportsmen, we raise to apologize for ending the rally in such way.
Hitting a shuttlecock with the racket-head can a trained stroke . It's not meant by implying, but stating that some strokes performed by good players are often regarded as 'lucky' strokes by some less trained observers. Here is an example; Some players are now training to hit the shuttlecock with the frame of the racket-head at net play (which is legal). But to many, hitting a shuttlecock with the racket-head is not considered a trained stroke; therefore it is often considered as a 'lucky' stroke. .
No matter how hard you train to hit the tape and cross over...... . Sorry to disagree. At our training sessions, we are training to hit the shuttlecock (at net-play) to fall on top of the net tape and to fall over the net into our opponents' court. .
err.... you are comparing at net play and LD's shot during JO final which is hit from baseline. one more thing, if you train hitting net and cross over at net play, and achieve 10% success rate. this is no good at all. i can hit it without training for 10%.
Yes like you said that 10% is a fantastic result. The remaining 90% were indeed very tight net shots which is difficult to retrieve. Of course with some errors once in a while. Like you said, the pros are trained to achieve shots like this. Even if by luck, they created their own luck.
This one, I agree with U... hitting the net-play to roll over the net is not really tough... of coz, the success rate is not high, that's why I said "lucky" net shots...
Also can we conclude that we have found the 2 replacements void in our 2nd and 3rd singles line-up after LCW since they can hit the shuttle to the tape and falls over without training?
is there any videos that i can dload for this match? i was in cameron for holiday, and i missed this tournament.
lets hope for more of such games to come. Like federer-nadal games. All I want is this 2 fella whip each other out and enjoy the fun. They owe the fans this type of games. Lindan has been skipping a lot of tournaments.
he cant skip as much as he wanted now he need to be 1st ms for china before ag(yeah,cj injured,u know) and next year og qualify start hehe enjoy hope he wont lost that much
It was a great game, but I counted something like 5 very dubious line calls all going in favour of LCW.. Maybe the linejudges also get YY sponsorship bonuses in JO I also noted that the TV producers didnt show any beside-the line camera slowmos on these calls against LD.. Wonder why With such a a close high-level game, and the (silly) rally-point scoring a few lincalls may be all that is needed to swing the game.. /Twobeer
Not at all, Just got the feeling that maybe some of the volunteers maybe consiously, or unconsiously rooted for a non Chinese player in the Mens final. I mean even I who love LD as a player still rooted for LCW as I think badminton benefits of one player not being to dominant. And also LCW has always been the player I like the most to succseed, as one can see after everyg ame how much winning and loosing really means to LCW!! He fully deserves the win, but still I have to say that some of the calls did look like they where "giving" him some extra point in Japan :-( .. I dont think it was a conspiracy, but i think it was odd that the producers didn't show video from the shuttle dropping when it was such a close call on the baseline (and to me many of the calls looked incorrect, but it was not easy to see on the TV and harder of course without reruns, I have to wait for the HD video to rewind ) /Twobeer
one would expect line call to be the same everywhere play just not too much 'errors' and i think those line judges are paid, not volunteer. there was a big tv screen in the stadium and on one occasion, slow motion was replayed for racket head touching the net and the umpire did not rule that was a fault but that was the xd final
