Noticed that too. Don't know why, he could be winning both the DEN and French Open. Lin Dan is still not playing in the top tier tourneys, how to qualify for the SSF when he's not within the top 8 OSIM standing?
LCW getting married mid Nov 2012, marriage preparations perhaps? Just noticed many of the back up Msian MD & XD has also been withdrawn. Now that is weird
You're right and he can well afford not to win some of the titles and not be bothered about world ranking either. A luxury which only Lin Dan enjoys and,not surprisingly, CBA cannot do much about it. To me that's as good as semi-retirement, what to do. And Rio OG is 4 long years away, so I don't expect that to motivate him at this stage even if he's serious about it; who knows, he might just decide to retire before then.
Hope you're right, you've the inside scoop? But I'm still worried his loss of motivation problem will only get worse as time goes by. I think CHN had better not depend too much on him;time for Chen Long to step up to the plate. Meanwhile. all the rest had better seize this golden opportunity offered by Lin Dan's 'generosity and charity' and capitalize on it, esp Lee CW who is no longer young before Chen Long or someone else emerges as a serious contender for the 'spoils'.
LD did not play in China Master last month. But I am sure he can qualify for the top 8 by winning HK SS and China Premier Super Series in November.
I believe all the CHN players are fully aware they aren't just competing with the rest of the world but also with their compatriots if they want to stay in the national squad. The insane competition and harsh reality are what mould the top CHN players where truly only the fittest survive. This is so unlike most other countries where their top players' services are still needed for several years despite repeated setbacks simply for lack of viable alternatives/replacements. To sum up,just look at what happened to their ex-World Champions Zhu Lin and Lu Lan in recent years to corroborate what I've said. Or take the typical case of Jiang Yanjiao, for example, the perpetual handmaiden, good enough to handle the best in the rest of the world but time and time again denied a title win by her fellow teammates. Don't forget, even the redoubtable Wang Yihan was once threatened with extinction, I mean annihilation.

Because KKK/TBH, CPS/GLY are going France, their juniors are not. If LCW need help, should be from KKK, TBH and thosse from his batch, he is closer to them
Lee Chong Wei has already won enough with both Lin Dan's generousity and without. Time for both of them to be generous to others this French SS!
Look carefully at the dates, the junior withdraw earlier than LCW. LCW may withdraw due to his wedding, but the juniors, comfirm is a different matter
Officially not yet, saw their names in the DEN Open draw. But don't expect Cai Yun, age 32, to stay on for much longer. I suppose that's why CHN is trying out new or previous scratch pairings in MDs, eg Zhang Nan - Chai Biao. Haven't seen Fu Haifeng trying out a new partner yet though.
With the way the draw is there, i hope saina will reach till quarterfinal without much effort. In QF, she has to work hard against Inthanon(if she reaches). Again in the SF, she has to fight for it as she may meet Juliane(i guess she will reach Semifinal).
