in my experience, BG66UM does not hold tension that well.

Im not sure if it is the string or the stringer who strung my racket

What Yonex strings do hold tension well? I know the BG80 holds its tension well.

The NBG98 is not bad....though i have not played with the BG80s enough to do a direct compare.

Finally received my order after being stuck at customs for over 2 weeks !

    Strung my first BG66UM @ 28/30 ( I use 28/30 for reg BG66)

Feel and control is pretty good, but power wise is lacking (feels dead when smashing)

This is probably because I strung it at too much tension

Will try it at 26/28 next time

    Nice sound btw

i think 66um needs less tension than regular 66 , i had the same experience as you regarding power.

If you let it sit around for a week and let it drop some tension, it will play much better. I was quite surprised too when I initially played with it at the same tension as you. Now a week later it plays and sounds great.

My 66UM on the MX80 is finally showing less tension. I have 2+months on it (strung last week of Feb) with weekly play so it's already out performed my expectations. 2 of my TC700s were strung also with 66UM in late Feb but hasn't quite lost their tension because they are rotated during play. Weather here's fairly warm and humid so that may factor.

27lbs ecp. For the first 6 weeks with the racket, 8-10hrs. Last 4 weeks only 2hrs.

So approx 12hrs of play @ ~27lbs isn't bad at all

    Err... it's 8-10 x 6 + 2 x 4 so 56-68 hrs. Probably about 1/3 the time on the mx80 so 16-22hrs actual play

I have a small question about the Nanogy 98 string but I didn't want to create a separate thread just for a small question.

MyBadmintonStore sells two kinds of the string, the CH version and the JP version

    http://www.mybadmintonstore.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1011
    http://www.mybadmintonstore.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=25_29_52_90&products_id=333

There's a 4$ difference between them but I don't know why except for the place where they are manufactured. I tried the search function to see if there was already a thread on it but I didn't find one on it. Is there any documented difference between the two strings in performance or durability?

I bet there are no differences. I have emailed Winston, the owner of MBS, inquiring about the difference between the JP and CH spec NBG98 and he himself doesn't know. I have tried both the JP version and the CH version and found no difference in performance or feel. Go ahead and order the CH ones if you are planning to get some NBG98 and save yourself the $4.

NBG98 was out in Japan a lot earlier. What is pictured is still the old packaging as well so I'm guessing it's still old stock from before it was released internationally(?) ... and some clients perhaps that want to show off ;)

Personally, I (as a BG80 ex-lover and an aggressive hard-hitter) love and prefer the BG Ultimax. Compare to many strings I've ever used at the same tension I'm truly amaze by the difference and how awesome BG66 Ultimax is when I fire a string of match-winning, non-stop bazooka blasts causing a huge damage on opposition territory. ^^ Control is as powerful and pinpoint accurate! Excellent and awesome string!

as the guy above me i have allways been a bg80 user recently i got 2 new rackets so i was like yeah ill give 66um a try

So far feels amazing and not felt too much tenssion loss - done about 15hours of play on the racket and other one i havent touched yet.

strung at 27lb so was expecting them to get broken fairly fast (new racket and all, had few misshits but its been fine)

price wise somehow i feel the yonex strings tend to be not as expensive in england so maybe lucky for me :D

I have the BG66 Ultimax as well and keep coming back to them. I do find them fray a little more than other strings, and once it starts fraying, it only last a few more hrs of play. I play double and not aggresive big hitter. They last me about 30hrs for me at 22lb.
