agree that the competition is between ZHU LIN and LU LAN ,, as ZHANG NING has been prepared for this olympic after she won in athens...
Defenitely CHINA need an experience player,,,,

LYB has done a good choice,,,,

when he choose CHEN HONG instead of XIA XUANZE in athens,,, it's a wrong choice,,,
and now he didn't want to do the same mistake

    u may have been deceived.

let say, ZN has a better chance advancing along their event than your older MAL player WCH. Again, stop worrying about the chinese players.

xxf and zn are in lyb's battle plan. 3rd WS slot will be who has the highest ranking, in this case, LL over ZL.

But XXZ was in his 20s then. ZN is now in her 30s. If her opponent has the skills to make her bend 30 times in G1,she wouldn't have time to unbend and recover for G2.Sorry, my last impression of her was she's rickety.Maybe she can do a U turn, who knows.

I just hate this kind of selection by coaches. It's completely not fair to the players. Either selecting by ranking - XXF, LL and ZL, or have a selection tournament. Same in Malaysia, keep hearing Rexy keep saying who is going and who's not going....

Why Zhang Ning is playing Olympic?

There are many noises about why Zhang Ning currently WR.6 is presenting PRC with seeding 2 in Olympic and why not Zhu Lin current WR.3.

I just checked the WR for women's single at time of cut-off date (continental tournement ASIA game, some time begging of May). Zhang Ning was WR.2 after XXF on the death line of Olympic seeding... Thus litterally she is more qualified (of course seeded.2 by IBF now) than Zhu Lin...

Thus, in my opnion, it is more related to World raking at Olympic seeding cut-off date rather than LYB. (though I will not rule out or argue if there is LYB's influence.

Once you have many quality players / pairs, the coach has to do the cut. Thanks for the "limited entry" rules...

    Possible...

...but if say, both ZN and ZL played the same number of Super Series or tournaments needed as part of the Olympics qualifying tourneys, then the LYB's factor/influence could be minimal, if none.
*Could someone do a bit of detective work and see if ZN & ZL played the same number of Olympics qualifying tourneys??..

Most definitely! Exiting the game with a Gold or Silver medal in OG in her own country, wow!. No matter what happen in the final, she is already a winner. No just in this OG but a great great career.

Yes indeed she made LYB a proud coach for choosing her to compete in Olmypic.
