just started. Gong is already at 4-0.

there just no match. Yuli can't even get to Gong's fast drops. she looks like a beginner. where is Lidya? at least she may get some of the shots.

    7-0 already.

i have never seen Yuli play. but apparently she is only 158cm tall. even shorter than Gong.

interesting is that, Yuli uses the jumpsmash. that happens very rarely in the ladies singles.

3-3 right now. Gong won first game. 11-1. i think...

    Gong won 11-2

Yuli is losing to Gong but hey, its the olympic gold medalist shes playing. My hopes are still high since Yuli has already done better than what world no. 1 Camilla Martin ever did in her match against Gong......

    So go Yuli!

Yuli was leading 5-3 at one point. Gong came back to 6-5 now.

despite being so short. she has some really sharp and deceptive shots.

Gong was stunned a bit, but it looked like she has regained her composure now.
    8-5

Well, I believe Yuli's strategy is just giving up the first set as she did before, and suddenly becomes aggressive in the 2nd. It's a way of stealing the match by mentally astonishing the oppornent.

well, 9-5. with quite a few service exchanges..

Yuli was very impressive, catching Gong wrong footed on a few occasions.

this may be either a new unfamiliar opponent, or Gong just need to practice more on retrieve deceptive shots. Yuli holds onto the stroke to the last moment before striking the shuttle. that may have caught Gong off timing. that's something that Camilla seldom do. she also have a few sharp shots.

she is still really young, so if trained correctly, she may be a threat to future Chinese players. however. as mentioned, she is only 158cm tall. that may be a little bit too short....

Yeah, by virtue of that, I'm proud of her. Same feelings for Hendrawan. When he was down 6-13, I gave up watching the match. So he lost all the same, but his fighting spirit is amazing. My parents (both diehard Chinese supporters) were really impressed, with my dad going, "zhe4 wei4 lao3 ren2 jia1 hen3 nai4 da3".
And I said, "oh please, you're even older than him".

Hendrawan has always been like that, that's why he won

Olympic silver.Did you remember how he made a monkey

out of the Thai player in asia Cup?Also to Xia Xuan Ze in

Thomas Cup and Olympics. He reads game well like Gade and

Gopi, but is not fit because of age.

I strongly agree with you. Remember when HoyerLarsen won the Olympic Gold, he was way older than Hendrawan. So age doesn't matter and the same goes to height.

    Go Hendrawan !!!
