    players have withdrawn

Just checked the website and found out that it is quite true. Some players from various countries have withdrawn from this tournament. The most obvious withdrawal of player would be from Singapore because they send in so few players for this tournament but yet they have already withdrawn their top MD and XD players. Well, anyway top players are still playing for this tournament so it will be difficult to determine who will be the winner.

As for the MS event, hope will be high once again for Lee Hyun Il to win the gold medal. Lee Hyun Il may be old age 37 but I still believe that this player still has the stamina to play on. He has higher prospect to win compared to Lee Dong Keun. Anyway Lee Hyun Il did mention that he will really go all out this time to win the gold medal this time. Who knows this old, veteran player might just spring in a surprise and win the gold medals. Well this is just my predictions and I may also be wrong here. Yes, at the age of 37, it will be very difficult for a badminton player to win in tournaments because you need a good stamina to win in tournaments. However, everything is still possible and nothing is impossible. In the recent interview Lee Hyun Il said that he would like to win more gold medals in various tournaments to help increase his world rankings so that he will be able to play in Olympic 2016 next year. Well, all the best.

Lee Hyun Il qualified for World Championship 2015 in Jakarta but he withdrew. If he has his eyes on Olympic 2016, I don't understand why he withdrew from WC 2015 which carried many qualification points for Olympic 2016. This really puzzle me.

No Lee Hyun Il gave up his place for Lee Dong Kuen to play in the recent WC. Since Lee Dong Keun and Son Wan Ho performance has really been under par, hopes will be high once again for Lee Hyun Il to chip in and help Korea win the Olympics 2016 MS gold medals. Although Lee Hyun Il may be old, he stands a higher chance to win then either Lee Dong Keun or Son Wan Ho. This is the main reason. So now he is going to make a comeback and play once again in Olympics 2016 to win the gold medals for Korea. Hope this clarify everything.

Lee Hyun Il is actually 35 years of age and as it stands now he is Korea's really only chance of winning a medal at the next Olympics in the Men's singles category. He's not going to go far if he keeps playing in the GPG tournaments he's going to need to keep playing in the SS tournaments.

    Brief Preview

VIE Open is the third Grand Prix tournament in 2015 BWF Calendar after Canada and Russian Open, the overall casts are pretty good at this level as some of top 20 players and even top 10 pairs in XD discipline check in to collect as many as possible ranking points, 5,500 for the winners at stake.

MS discipline will see Indonesian #1 Tommy Sugiarto as top favourite to triumph here, his toughest rivals are coming from second seed left-handed player Lee Hyun Il and home star Nguyen Tien Minh. Some Indian shuttlers often pose tricky test for the elites such as Ajay Jayaram, Gurudaidutt, Praneeth. China sends their youngsters who have not yet create a significant improvement lately, Xue Song, Huang Yuxiang, Qiao Bin. Two Malaysian seasoned campaigners, Chong Wei Feng, Liew Daren along with former world junior champion Zulfaddli Zulkiffli who shocked Chou Tien Chen at world meet couple a weeks ago will join the underdog brigade. Also interesting to follow how far the Indonesian young quartet, Christie-Ginting-Kholik-Mustofa can go in this GP.

Strong presence by Thai WS, minus their ace Ratchanok Intanon. Busanan, Porntip, Nichaon will vie the title, another contender should be Korean Kim Hyo Min. China WS who scored worst outcome in Jakarta WC will be represented by the average talent, Yao Xue and Shen Yaying. First seed, Busanan will be challenged by home player Vu Thi Trang at first round, Vu had forced former World #1 Wang Yihan into the limit at WC arena. Second seed, Spaniard Beatriz Corrales will take on INA hopeful Hanna Ramadhini. Corrales must be truly inspired by her shining star compatriot Carolina Marin whom produced spectacular achievement in last 12 months.

We’ll see the different generation as frontrunners, the upcoming and dangerous top seed Li JH/Liu YC - who had collected two GP Gold titles in this year, China Masters and US Open - also Gideon/Sukamuljo as well who was beaten finalist in TPE GP Gold last month. The established combination is represented by former All England champion Koo KK/Tan BH and defending champion Adistia/Gunawan. Strings of the darkhorses, Angriawan/Saputra, Chopra/Dewalkar, Hoon TH/Lim KW may hope to produce something surprise here.

No Chinese WD participation and top two seeds lpulled out of this competition, it means chance for others to capitalize their absences. Malaysian recent SEA Games gold medalist Anscelly/Soong FC who stole the spotlight to knock out world #1 Matsutomo/Takahashi in recent WC will be hot favourites to top podium. Their major stumbling block should coming from two INA combos Andini/Giovani and Imawan/Nuraidah.

XD discipline will be dominated by Indonesian pairs with Jordan/Susanto, Widianto/Dili and Prasetya/Saufika. Current US Open winner Huang KX/Huang DP and Malaysian Chan PS/Goh LY are slated to be their biggest stumbling block. It will be surprised if one of INA XD could not out as the champion here.

    Today's programme : Qualification Round (09.00am local time) and MS R/64 (04.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=82A632B2-DEC3-4E2E-83C2-ED22BAB3646D

Thanks @ CLELY for putting up such a good summary. Anyway I guess the match of the day has to be the match of MS Guo Kai vs Lee Hyun Il. This should be the most exciting match as the old veteran player will play with another Chinese youngsters. Well, hopes will definitely be high on Lee Hyun Il to bring back the gold medal for Korea this time. However, tough match is awaiting as Guo Kai is really a very good player too. That is why this match is the last match of the day and I am very sure it will surely be a very interesting match. The results could go either way. Really looking forward to watch this match but too bad there is no live telecasts for this match.

No Livescore,no streaming as if matches played in a closed prison and people expect the game to be more popular.

    BIGGEST UPSET OF THE DAY

JEON Hyeok Jin defeated Xue Song 21-13 21-18.

Pathetic performance from the next 'Lin Dan'.

Indian hope R.M.V Gurusaidutt gets a straight set win over thailand's Khosit.

Lee Dong Keun survives the scare after loosing the first set 15-21 and just managing to take the 2nd by 22-20 before taking the decider 21-14.

Anand Pawar's game seems to hit the rock bottom and he has been shown the door here too.

Zulfadli Zulkiffli's red hot form continues as he destroys Taipei's Lin Chia Hsuan 21-4 21-18.The first set scoreline may as well be remembered by Lin's compatriot Chou Tien Chen.

B.Sai Praneeth managed to get a comfortable win with scoreline reading 21-10 21-18 in the favour of Indian.

The next 'Taufik' Ginting Anthony was stretched to three games but he managed to come out on top in the end.His friend Ihsan Maulana Mostafa has been shown the exit gate though.

Vietnam's warrior Tien Minh NGUYEN defeated Malaysia's Darren Liew in hard fought encounter 21-10 13-21 21-11.Looks like more pay cut awaits for Darren Liew.

That's all from FOX BC News centre.

Xue Song's defeat somehow influenced his fellow MS shuttlers, as NO Chinese MS survived the first round. LYB will not be happy with this.

Lee HI is too strong for the Chinese second stringers.

    Thanks for the info :)

His negative trend continues. Xue Song is 2012 WJC silver medalist when he lost to Kento Momota, this talented Japanese player has transformed smoothly at senior stage, now ranked world #3.

Their future MS looks bleak at the moment.
