It seems like the new Ti-10 has lots of changes from the old one as : 1. Head Light balance (used to be balanced or a little head-heavy) 2. HMG (used to be UHMG) 3. I wonder if the head paint is no longer "matte"? 4. String holes near the joint is now with MP grommets.
I would like to report a recent finding on the balance point of the old Ti-10. I had measured many Ti-10s within the last year of time, and I found out that the last few shipments of the old Ti-10 rackets are already changed to Head-Light balance (without indication in words or paint jobs). The change point seems to happen somewhere in 2005 as all my Ti-10s produced on and before 2004 are all near 292mm and all 2005 and after Ti-10s are less than 285mm. This applies to 2UG4, 2UG5, 3UG4, and 3UG5 in the sample size of more than 20 rackets in SP and TW codes. I wonder if Yonex was "testing" in the last few shipments of Ti-10s, and then moved onto the new paint??
Maaaaaaaaan, who would have thought, the once "brute" of a racket, so powerful, unabashed and proud, able to bomb shuttles with reckless abandon, now transformed into a headlight, weaker sibling. :crying: :crying: :crying: Oh how the Ti10's of the old will mourn its decendants. Oh how the immortal have become mortal. Ohhhhh, the king is dead, long live the...bring back the old king!
This is probably why there were some badminton stores started holding up the old stock Ti-10s since the beginning of last year.
Having said and mourned the head heavy Ti-10 made with UHMG, the 2005 head light version can take my torture test : 30 lbs X 33 lbs no problem.
Then I think it is possible too that old color scheme Ti-10 produced in 2005 has already used HMG instead of UHMG even though the words "Ultra High Modulus Graphite" printed on the shaft. What do you guys think? With all these changes, I feel like this so-called new Ti-10 is more likely to be in the NanoSpeed series (head light and HMG), but then Yonex changes it to "new" Ti-10 since this Ti-10 has already got fanatic users. It's just my personal assumption.
it will be great if they create a racket that is same( not similar) specs as in flex, balance etc but uses new nano material like those in NS9000 but also keep the exact same matt finish colour scheme and call it say Ti10n ( nano or any suffix but keep the Ti10 tag) i am sure to get 2 of them cos i like Ti10 and the paint job as well as colour. you really need to clash it a lot to get the paint to come off. not that Ti10 is the best racket....but i just love it!
THAT'S WRONG, SO WRONG ... and i don't mean bj, i mean yonex! how can they do that, that's like selling a ferrari with a volkswagon engine. though having said that, i do have 2 2004 ti-10s, hmmm, i better check their balance just in case ... but still, how can they do that??
i got it! i went to classic sports at toa payoh safra and got the racket. it is definitely a genuine racket. it has the sunrise logo on it. the shop owner mr soh said that they are no longer producing the original TI10. new stock will all be this racket. i got my at $165 strung at 26lb pacific machine, BG66. incidentally he invited me to a game at night and i accepted cos i wanted to test the racket. feel: the racket feels lighter and more even balance than original( which i also broiught along to test difference in playing. it seems easier to move around and yet still holds the power of the Ti10. power: i played 2 games w it and try lots of lob, and smash and power was not a concern at all. enough to push shuttle to base easily. only thing see that the original smashes seems sharper. clears in defence against smashes was excellent too@ control: also tried a lot of drops and net shots and control was excellent too. to sum up, i love this new Ti10 and will be getting another one to make it a pair. service was precise too in both short serve and flick heres a link to 4 photos of e racket. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/da...e=http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos just to add that the top part a matt white but e rest of the body is shinny coat. so don think can withstand clashes and keep paint job intact anymore. ......a review by one who loves Ti10....pardon the bias
Is the head of the new racket has the same "matte" (anti-scratch surface) as the old ones? I really like the idea of the scratchless paint because it will not scratch the paint of the head when you use your racket to pick up shuttles from the court. Now... I am wondering (and guessing) the popularity of the new Ti-10 and if it's going to be released worldwide.
only e top 1/3 part of the head is matt ( the white part.) i thought the white would make it look really dirty after picking up shuttles but about last nights game. i am quite covinced that its ok cos the racket is still good as new
Ok...I'm a lil confused. Has this "new" ti-10 gained a fat/thick frame or does it still have the original ti-10's thin/slim frame?
latest report: was playing yesterday. after about 3 hrs of play, i am like almost totally exhausted plus i took my IPPT( individual physical fitness test required by Army) the day before. was playing w the old ti10 and then realised that having a hard time clearing. switch to the new ti10 and did better. i am convinced that the new ti10 is a good racket. may not be better than the old one but definitely a lighter and faster racket w/.o losing the power. already ordered a second one and getting it today
