Venue : Taipei Arena, Taipei City-TPE Total prize-money : US$200,000 Tournament website : http://www1.ctb.org.tw/index.asp TPE time : http://www.worldtimezone.com/time/wt...ma=Find%20Time MS R/32 & R/16 all five disciplines (10.00am local time, 5 courts) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...089B9C-2419-418F-BA33-904828BCE203&d=20150716 Three notable upsets yesterday, Chai B/Hong W (2nd seed), Fischer/Pedersen (4th) and Sung Ji Hyun (5th). Another surprise that higher ranked player/pairs were sent packing at first round, Kim GJ/Kim SR (8th), local fave Lee SM/Tsai CH (5th), Lee SH/Shin SC (7th) and two MS players Tian HW (8th) also Saensomboonsuk as well (13th). MS top contenders passed R/64 in relatively comfortable with straight-sets win despite first seed Chen Long needed extra effort at game 1 against Goh SH. Nothing huge surprise happened in this category so far as only Tian HW and Tanongsak were ousted by INA promising talent Anthony Ginting and 2013 World Junior Champion Heo Kwang Hee respectively. In WS, second seed Li Xuerui who's struggling to back into her top form, eliminated Busanan with very close margin last night and today she will take on another Thai player, Porntip. Home hopeful Tai Tzu Ying also got trouble to clear first hurdle, Aya Ohori. Asian Junior Champion silver medalist Pornpawee Chochuwong stunned Yui Hashimoto who had incredible run at last month INA SS Premier. A convincing scoreline by top fave Intanon and this Thai prodigy will face China test Sun Yu to hunt quarterfinal berth. Both INA and JPN have 4 MD pairs in last sixteen, their underdogs Fernaldi/Sukamuljo and Inoue/Kanuko suprisingly knocked out their more favoured opponent, Lee SM/Tsai CH and Chai B/Hong W respectively. WD frontrunners, Matsutomo/Takahashi, Luo Y/Luo Y, Pedersen/Juhl and defending champion Maheswari/Polii showed their prowess yesterday and expected to through into next round. The Danish combo has tricky test China qualifier, Ma J/Huang YQ today. Six INA pairs and high profile Chinese quartet dominate XD discipline, KOR and INA have secured 1 quarterfinal ticket. All MS players will play two rounds (10.00am & 04.10pm local time), today's highlights : - Tommy Sugiarto (INA) v Lee Chong Wei (MAS) - Nguyen Tien Minh (VIE) v Hu Yun (HKG) - Wang Shixian (CHN) v Sayaka Takahashi (JPN) - P.V. Sindhu (IND) v Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) - Porntip Buranaprasertsuk (THA) v Li Xuerui (CHN) - Goh VS/Tan WK (MAS) v Pratama/Suwardi (INA) - Kamura/Sonoda (JPN) v Ko SH/Shin BC (KOR) - Vivian Hoo KM/Woon KW (MAS) v Go AR/Yoo HW (KOR) - Ma J/Huang YQ (CHN) v Pedersen/Juhl (DEN) - Reginald Lee CH/Chau HW (HKG) v Xu C/Ma J (CHN)
Really disappointed from Srikanth again. He needs to stop loosing to these Indonesian youngsters.I don't have words to describe but the feeling is bad.
Ihsan Maulana Mustofa upsets Srikanth Kidambi (3rd seed), 21-19 / 21-18. Lacklustre performance by the Indian #1 lately. Lee Chong Wei shows his quality to knock out Tommy Sugiarto, 21-12 / 21-18 despite the former world #1 trailed far behind in second game.
Fox, He played better than I expected. Sameer's inexperience cost him game 1, was leading 18-14 and lost 19-21. He showed fighting spirit and can only get better with more tournament experience. Srikanth is unpredictable. This loss will hurt him. Should he have skipped this tournament, like Saina, Kashyap, Prannoy? He has 3 weeks to reflect, train and attempt a comeback. His confidence will be low. Disappointed with him. Congratulations Ihsan, Ginting! Well played!
Srikanth's ousted by ina younsgter yet again. His rank really doesnt represent his skill and perfomance and he might drop out of top 10 this year
