Well he didn't enter in 2008 so it would be hard to lose ;).

According to this article/interview he has never lost at the europeans (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1416623&postcount=1). Consecutive is a poor choice of words yes, 5 titles in it's own is a new record be it consecutive or not.
Thought I had read another article mentioning Hoyer-Larsen, etc. as well. Maybe they mean 5 in the same event for a male player.

JR & Paaske take the MD crown :). In straight sets even, 24-22 and 22-20. Had thought Boe/Mogensen would get their revenge for the AE myself ... Oh well so much for their pink shirts theory :D.
In the WD final a somewhat surprising result as well, although not to many of the other PAWers. The less experienced all russian pair beating their seniors from Bulgaria and Russia quite easily even 18 & 14. Unexpected but pleasant nonetheless :). Nedeltcheva/Russkikh looked very lacklustre for some reason ... not that I watched the whole thing of course ;).

I see Thomas is still sporting his "i need a sponsor". Since the LFC and Carlsberg are no longer a pair ...

You should have a look at the draw in 2008 ;). I think they are quite good though - very good even and luckily get to see them every year :p. Russkikh and Nedeltcheva should be better, even if they have only been a pair for one year.

Danish players dominated this tourney, almost won all titles except WD which taken by Russian pair. Finally, European Champion for Tine. Congrats!

Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen carry their AE form to the European Championships as they beat Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen in yet another tight match.

DEN will definitely be a threat in the Thomas Cup this year. With the right strategy, they might just reach the Final (if they don't meet CHN early).

I agree with you, Denmark seems stronger than Malaysia or Korea this year.

just realize that 7 top seeded MS and 8 top WS to quarter, and 4 top seeded for both MS and WS in semifinal. Is European badminton quite predictable, or the gap between top players and their competitors is too big?

The gap is too big between the best Danes, Poles, Russian, English and the others..

All the five events are fabulous.

XD: The Polish pair is a bit inconsistent. The male player lost about 5 points by poor serves. Otherwise, the result could be different.

WS: Schenk is proactive. However, her techniques seem not refined. In my opinion, she lost at the net.

MS: Gade is more or less in control. It was more obvious later on at the match.

WD: Nice play by the Russian pair. The Bulgarian lady seems have been affected by her arm injury.

MD: A good match. I am impressed by the tactics. Rasmusen does not have a strong smash but his drives and shot placements are first class. To my untrained eyes, Mogensen seems less visible than Boe.
