Surprisingly, quite a comfortable victory for Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir over Xu Chen/Ma Jin in straight-sets 21-11, 21-18. It was nearly a convincing win at 20-14 in the second-set, only for the CHN pair to catch up to 18-20. Nevertheless, the record between these 2 pairs is now 5-6, still to the advantage of Xu/Ma. They are slated to meet each other again if both can reach the Final next week in Paris.

Now, is it time to set the record straight against Fischer-Nielsen/Pedersen, considering the INA pair hasn't beaten the Danes since the World Championships 2011? Or would the INA pair prefer to face the reigning Olympics champion whom they have beaten 3 times in a row since the Denmark Open last year?

MJ/XC both looked uninterested. No communication between them.

The defeat at the WC probably still lingered in their mind and that they WOed to their team mates at the Japan SS last month. Xu Chen was too confident of a victory at 19-17 and 20-18 and they probably still couldn't fathom how the INA pair got their victory at the Worlds. Even Zhang Jun shook his head before the end of that match.

Ratchanok is so superior to all of China's women's singles now that it's just stunning. She moves forward and attacks as soon as she gets the chance - something the Chinese girls are wont to do.

I think Inthanon's coach basically reminded her to guard her forehand as WYH was attacking her forehand after finding out RI's lethal overhead shots. Now RI is using her reverse slice forehand like that of LCW's. Superb shots. It is not full force attack but rather taking the pace of the slice cum smash.

WYH's court coverage used to be fantastic, now we see her running all over the place more often than not.
