I have recently started using Yonex AC102 grip on my duora z-strike. And after a 3 hour session I found the grip starts to wear out at the place where the first joint of my thump contacts, like what mentioned in this thread (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/index.php?threads/grip-wearing-out.170231/). I was expecting it to be more durable than that. I wonder how's the experiences from everybody here ?
It's the best overgrip I ever used. I change it for hygiene but it seems that I just could use it for ever. So my experience is very far from yours...
I made the experience that the durability is related to the colour. 3 hours sounds to me very low. So maybe you grap it too tight and therefore you use a too thick grip.
I am currently using it on the top of the factory grip of a G4 grip. Don't know whether that is considered thick or not.
Hi, i have the same problem with Yonex AC102. At the beginning it is very good and after 2-3 hours it has no more grip. The problem are sweaty hands! A sweatband helps and after playing do not put the racket into bag. Then the racket is rdy for the next session. I play "Karakal Air 75" and its much better for me.
This is what happened after a 3 hour session. I think part of it is because of the Duora so I cannot spin the racket to use the grip evenly. Should I change it ?
I don't see any issue to change it as long as it's comfortable for you. IMO red supergrab is the worst colour of all. IMO you also use different kinds of grips during playing. Seems like you play with a rooted and firm grip regardless if net, backhand, netkill etc. Even on a Duora without spinning it should be more even on a wider area. Do you let your racket slide under the net if you play the next set and change the sides? Are you sure that you didn't buy fake ones?
It was a 3 hour session of all doubles so a lot of smashes and drives. That could have accelerated the wearing. It should be a genius one. Bought from a reputable online seller. I am not sure what you mean by let the racket slide under the net ?
Alot people here let their rackets slide under the net to the other side, when they change sides and have a break. Can't describe it better. Sorry.
Regarding the racket-net sliding thing, I tend to lift the net with my racket whenever we change sides, so when I go under the net, I'd be holding the racket in a very loose, "fingers-only" pan-handle grip behind me at head-level, with the head facing downwards. Maybe that's what he meant? In my experience, this grip is really quite soft and thin, and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets damaged due to above (or any kind of somewhat rough on-court handling, really). I used to carry my rackets backpack-style with the grip exposed, so whenever I stepped on the court, there's usually already some wear, dirt, and tear (usually around the butt cap) added from my morning commute (which isn't much). I've already switched to towel grips; they're more durable and takes longer to get dirty.
That's really very odd. It's either you bought a poor batch of the grip or you have such strong acid in your sweat. I've had this grip on 2 of my rackets since sometime ago and they're just fine even after getting soaked in a lot of sweat. What I usually do after the game is to wrap facial tissues on the wet grips to absorb the sweat.
I absolutely destroy these in a session and the result is far far worse than what's quoted above. Found myself enjoying the game a bit more after switching to thin towel grips. Personally found RKEP G10's miles better but even they aren't 402dx.
I think it was because my hand was too dry because of the ridiculously strong AC. So there’s no lubrication and that result in the wear.
i switched from ac102ex to wilson pro overgrip. much more durable, grippier, last for 16 hrs (4 hrs a week, 1 month period) and still ok. and i even tried to use the reverse side. grip enough as well.
As others have noted, the color does make a difference. White and yellow are the best. Stay away from black and red !
