Kinda crazy to think that Minions could have met KamuraSonoda and then being in the same pool with EndoWatanabe and LeeWang against them which mean they will meet in SF. that will have been nightmare draw. Now, WR2-5 are all stucked in bottom draw.

of course, we cant count AstrupRasmussen out as well.

I honestly won't be surprised if they did win. LiLu have a penchant for doing well in big games. along with the tendency for Minions to choke in these big tournaments. I won't be surprised if they went to the finals and actually win.
Meanwhile, I am unsure if Endo and Watanabe can repeat their feat and win Ahsan/Hendra like they did in AE last year. Heck, I won't even write off Lee and Wang to be frank.

Yeah they got a good draw. But I think even in this draw, as long as opponents do the correct thing (basically target Gideon like hell), they can win. Li Liu did in back in the world tour finals under similar slow conditions, they can do it again.

I think people underestimate the Taiwanese MD.
They might upset Japan. They lost to India because the Indian having a new coach who is quite good in strategy

I dont think this is slow condition. I think its just a little slower than Denmark hall. There arent much lifts in MD this tournament and when they do, i see many times the shuttle went out so i think its not nice to play defense here.

think most important for Minions is to beat AaronSoh. If you lose in SF, you can still fight for Bronze.

Omg, should've been easy for Minions to go to final on their usual circumstances. And minions, particularly Kevin will go off if the opponents are also fired up. So beating Aron - Soh and Li - Liu should be a regular homework.

Final however, Endo - Yuta will get them.

Much will depend on how you fare and whether you can cope with the pressure.

In Rio - MD, Ahsan/Setiawan was knocked out in group stage, Kim/Kim and Goh/Tan didn't convert their match points against Fu/Zhang, LYD/YYS lost to Goh/Tan in the quarter, and UK won the Bronze against Chai/Hong.

In WD, we saw Yu Yang vented her anger at her junior partner, Denmark up 19-16 in rubber game against TakaMatsu and conceded 5 straight points to lost the gold.

I simply don't trust li junhui, he's arguably worse than gideon when he's under pressure. I remember how ahsan/hendra destroyed them with ahsan basically playing with 1 leg.

WD i think now is quite wide open anyone can win
as for MD minions has bigger chance than the others to go to final but the bottom half everyone has equal footing me think

Imagine if li/liu got their revenge on minions here :D

Lee/wang vs endo/watanabe gonna be fireee, if the japanese just happy to play their natural game I think lee/wang can cause an upset, wang got some serious power from the back. still feeling pretty confident about ahsan/hendra

Good draw for greysia/apriani in WD, I could see them going to the final

Imagine LiLiu got the revenge and lost in the Final. that will be arghhh.

When EndoWatanabe beat Minions, its in the Finals and they won the 2 titles ( BAC and AE), but when they defeated them outside the Final, they were not able to win. Even beating them twice in the same tourney (WorldTour Final). so i think its good if EndoW play Minions in the Final. (even by Endo nervous final standard)

Wow what a tough bottom bracket for WD Japan : worst possible draw for the host.

Nagamatsu get smashed through by Kim Kong every time they play.

Fukuhiro even at 100% have to battler hard to win against Jia/Chen as seen in previous encounters, and even if by miracle they do win, they have to face their worst nemesis Nagamatsu or a tough match up with Kim Kong.

The indonesian WD pair actually have a very nice draw, very good chance to reach the final IMO.

MD draw on the contrary is pretty balanced in comparison.

I agree that Lee/Yang and Li/Liu could definitely cause some upsets against the three favorite pairs (WataEndo, and the two INA pairs), they look fired up

They will definitely beat fuku/hiro, there's no way fuku/hiro beat chen/jia when hirota is not 100% like that

If somebody had said in - say - 2018 that Japan won't even win a medal in WD at the Olympics, you would have thought this person was delusional. Now it is actually happening.
