Some people would argue that Marin is a one-trick pony as well, by that definition. It's always pace, pace, pace with Marin...
She changes her game plan quite often. Even if she's not way faster than anyone else, she manages to win. Sindhu peaks once a year or so. Big time player. But hasn't won many tournaments overall. To me that indicates that if her big weapon is out, she's quite harmless. Marin or TTY on the other hand, are way more consistent and winning even when not at their very best.
I met GC once outside the Siri Fort Sports Complex in Delhi during India open super series. We had a small chat, I also mentioned about our badminton central forum. She is a very lovely person.
Most dreadful thought that I've been trying to avoid. Hopefully she'll be like Sir David Attenborough, who never retires.
Haha! Not really, but I did tell her that this forum is a great community for the badminton fans all around the world and she should check this space sometime. But it was long time ago. 2015 may be, not sure though. I guess Axelsen won that year or atleast reached the finals. I even got to click a picture with Gillian, PV Sindhu, etc. Chen Jin was the only player who obliged from the Chinese team. He was probably coaching the women's singles team. It was my lucky day.
