Tommy plays at this event ?

Why ? Considering he's the only Indonesian in the field.

There're 3 other names under INA flag in MS Qualification draw : Stenny Kusuma, Hendry Winarto, Indra Bagus ;)

Looking at MS draw, pretty much strong line-up for IC category, 3 DEN players here Axelsen/Persson/Vittinghus.

Hopefully Tommy Sugiarto could win the title.. To win the title, he should face many top European players namely Dicky Paliama,P.Wacha,Joachim Persson,Hans Kristian,Pablo Abian, and TPE players Jen Hao Hsu.

Tommy Sugiarto won 2 matches today (including one against Joachim Persson) and progresses to the QF easily.

2 more opponents await tomorrow: Pablo Abian [5/8] and either Kevin Cordon or Vladimir Malkov.

I expect Tommy to win both matches.

Indra Bagus is actually living in Spain, and sometimes plays under ESP flag.:) although naturally he is from Indonesia.

2 tough games for Tommy tomorrow, Pablo has beat Hafiz and is a very good player, with home advantage it could be a tough game for Tommy. I would expect Cordon to beat Malkov, again Cordon is a very good player, left handed, big smash, and good defence, as well as having good footwork. Should be a tough match for Tommy should he beat Pablo. Cordon beat Palayama today, so don't underestimate him :)

In the bottom half of the draw, there is still Axelsen, HKV and Jen Hao Hsu are strong, should be interesting.

MD, WD and XD events are quite weak though, WS is fairly strong.

Tommy lost in 3 to Pablo Abian 21-18 8-21 22-20. Pablo will play Kevin Cordon in the Semis. In the bottom half of the draw, Axelsen will play the winner of HKV vs Jen Hao Hsu.

Agreed, Pablo has improved a lot recently, not suprised that he managed to win today.:)

Possibly a Viktor vs Pablo final, however I wouldn't write Cordon off, he did give Bao Chunlai a run for his money once, when nobody expected him to get more than 5-6 points of him.:) should be a close match between Pablo and Kevin

It was indeed a close match between Cordon and Abian....it's nice to see player from American region to play this good..

Congrats for Pablo and Carolina Marin to reach the final

Very interesting to see these match :

Axelsen v Abian (2 very talented young ms)
Marin v Olga Konon (I root for Konon, but home crowd might give extra push to Marin)

Yes, Kevin is the best hope of raising the profile of badminton in South America.:) hopefully he will do well in the Olympics next year.:)

actually Abian isn't that young, nearly 26, in comparison to Axelsen who is 17. They have a 1-1 head to head record, and both matches they played against each other have resulted in not very close matches.

I think Marin should win this against Konon, Marin won last week in the final against Schenk, so she should have a lot of confidence + home support:)

I should add that, Axelsen and Marin should be the future for European badminton.:)

Abian is at his peak atm he is 26 years old if he wants to break into the international scene he has to do it within the next 2 years...in my opinion he is around the standard of rajiv ouseph of england and since rajiv is starting to find his feet internationally I think abian should start playing in tournaments across the world, in asia etc..he is going to win tmrw, axelsen is a bit too young to understand how to play in a final....also predictin olga for the win!

Perhaps the tournament was on clay court, and Pablo got Rafael Nadal at his sideline :p

Yup, impressive win by Carolina Marin to grab 2 titles in a row.

Even his senior compatriots Vittinghus & Persson can't progress into semifinal. Viktor did it :)
Overall, DEN won 2 titles here through MS & XD, meanwhile POL, NED and host ESP bagged 1 title each.
