My, what a nice smash to end the match. Jill Clark sounds very excited.

What a great match it was... almost unpassable "Great Wall" Tien Minh, and all the trick shots and variations of Gade.

easy match for LD tomorrow, Peter has played two really tough matches in succession, and looked physically drained at the end of the match. Can't see there being too much difficulty for LD.

My God.....what a terrific match from Gade. He had to dig deep to win this one, and he has as well. I thought it was all over when it came to 19-19 in the 2nd set. Gade was playing all or nothing with that smash long line from Nguyen's service but luckily enough it was in. Gade was already puffing in the 2nd set but he showed tremendous character and tactical knowledge to pull this one off.

I'm so glad for him on his last WC's. How I would like him to go all the way and take that gold medal to Denmark.

Peter Gade *clap clap clap clap clap* !!

adcock/bankier have now knocked out three consecutive seeds from unseeded, when was the last time that was done, Tago at AE10 perhaps? Adcock looks to have developed into a world-class doubles player, think the Indonesians might be a bridge too far though.

Great win for Gade, but it did seem that Tien got two point robbed in the second game from the line-judge.. those +2 instead of -2 would maybe have made a big difference in that set. If they are "training" for 2012 Olympics i Think they should try to find better line-judges..

A couple of calls in the Sasaki Lin Dan where also errors. The umpire overuled one..But honestly it would have been more fair if he didnt overrule it as it ould have been 1 point each due to line-call misstakes :)

Interesting quarterfinal, to say the least. Several outstanding results from Bona/Ahsan, Gutta/Ponnappa, Cheng Shao Chieh, Adcock/Bankier, and of course, Juliane Schenk. I have never seen Tine Baun so out of sorts until yesterday.

Bona/Ahsan's match was really down the nail stuff. The Indonesians used their better accuracy at the net to keep the Danes guessing. Although their defence could improve a bit more. There were some heart stopping moments when they wasted 2 matchpoints and got into deuce, but the Danes just couldn't handle the deuce pressure more. With this victory, the loss of Hendra Setiawan/Markis Kido is mitigated. But the Indonesians do have to up their game to beat KSH/YYS.

Gutta/Ponnappa's victory came from under the rug, to say the least. Vita Marissa/Nadya Melati started very brightly, Nadya especially making several well placed attacks to force Gutta's backhand shoulder. But the Indians came back after their coach asked both of them to push a lot closer to the net (since Gutta is not as fast as the Indonesians). Gutta was able to intercept better and Ponnappa has a devastating setup smash, forcing loose returns easily pounced home. By midway throughout the 2nd game, the Indonesian discipline crumbled. Although the third game was quite close until the 2nd half, it was always the Indians who held the initiative. A very good performance to compensate for Saina Nehwal's tame defeat in the hands of Wang Xin.

Cheng Shao Chieh recaptured her best form in the match with Wang Shixian. From the get go, CSC moved to high gear and kept WSX moving back and forth. In the first game alone, WSX never got in the lead. In the 2nd, by the final third, WSX showed hints of tiredness and no amount of shouting from Zhang Ning could change her fortunes. CSC was able to acknowledge and pump up the crowd with her antics in between rallies, it got her a standing ovation.

Encouraged by shouts of "Yu-li Schenk" and "Deutchland", Juliane Schenk pushed her body back and forth, and dived on countless occasions to frustrate Tine Baun. Tine didn't help her cause by making so many errors during the followup after her initial attack. Defensively, Tine was very slow at reacting to dropshots and sideline attacks. And it didn't help that Schenk was able to hit the sidelines almost at will. And with the victories of Schenk and CSC, an all-China final is averted ....... :D

The home crowd played a huge part in bringing Adcock/Bankier into the medal round. The attendance figures were still not great, but you can really create noise when you have to. They were so effective, that from midgame in game one, the Chinese pair were unable to follow the pace.

Gade vs NTM was a very entertaining match up to the 3rd game. Let down by questionable line calls against NTM, it affected his focus and Gade took the opportunity to romp home. It was a relief to the relatively strong Danish supporter contingent, having seen all their other representatives fall down the wayside.
