..truly. At least for the Finals Rd. ;)
..i think she learned a lot from her lost in the Olympics last yr..She cried tears of sadness & disappointment last yr, but i bet she is now crying tears of happiness and joy, although she played her compatriots..Congrats to Lu Lan also!

Really superb 75 minutes MD match! CHN team repeats their 2006 success in Madrid, 4 WC titles except XD.

Amazing performance by Laybourn/Rytter-Juhl who knock out world #3, #1 and #2 in quarter, semi and finale. Congratz! In other way, sad ending for INA camp, only 1 silver and 2 bronze this time...

    Imo..

..Lu Lan with the same form can beat ZM when they meet again. One player is on the up and up and the other is on the down..
Btw, why mentioned whether LL can beat ZM? Did ZM beat LL before? If so, mind refreshing our mind in which tourney??

    ^^Haiyaah..^^

:p..i don't remember lah:crying:...My mind is not a Dual Core P4 processor, with 2 GB of memory, 1 GB of hard drive...:(

Btw, when was the last time LL and ZM met each other??..Hopefully LL's career will continue to improve after this big win. CHN WS squad needs a talent like her to keep their dominance rolling, esp. with Xingfang jie jie retiring soon..

    Congrats for the winners.

This had to be LD and CY/FHF year. The three of them had won All England and WCH also help their country winning Sudirman Cup this year. They had win all the big titles in 2009.

And ZTT and Juhl/Laybourn had to be very very happy. This is their first prestigious title they won after so many years in badminton circuit.

Specially ZTT who had never had a long term partner in WD . She is more like a subtitute player in CHina team. If one of her teammates injured or retired from national squad , usually she will replace that player. The same can be said for her XD partner. (Only CQQ who she had a long partnership but they never win a big title) You name it, she had patner WYL, GL, YW, ZD etc etc in WD. CQQ, ZB, HHB, SY etc etc in XD.

She must be very happy when she got ZYW (after WYL and GL retired) cause they make a powerful pair.

If I'm not mistaken, it was Denmark Open 2008.

Markis/Hendra was the best MD in 2008 but not 2009 cause of Markis injury. When they come back, they had to prove themselves to be the best again later this year or next year. Even when Markis/Hendra play this year, the results are not that stellar like 2008.

This year the best had to be CY/FHF by winning AE,WC and Sudirman Cup.

Next year, who knows? Maybe CY/FHF again or Markis/Hendra or JJS/LYD or Malaysian pairs or even Denmark pairs.

Well, according to our resident KOR fan's head-to-head stats, the DOMINATING Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae should still remain as the STRONGEST MD in the World from 2008 onwards, despite another heart-breaking loss in the WC Final (yet again) today ;)

    JUNG/LEE -- 15/20 (75%)
    FU/CAI -- 8/13 (62%)

    ^^Haiyaahh..^^

..this yr wasn't "another" heartbreaking loss in the WC for LYD & JJS..:p
In 2007, as expected, they lost to a more seasoned pair in 2 games. So, it wasn't heartbreaking as they weren't expected to even reach the Finals Rd. or even win it.
This yr, yes, it's heartbreaking as the expectation is there. Now, if next yr they end up in the same exact spot, in the Finals and then lose again in the rubber game, then it'll be "another" heartbreaking loss.:p

MVP of 2009 World Champs ?

    Some intersting findings

    Fate of the #1 seeds:
    1) MS seed #1 was beaten by seed #6 at QF
    2) WS seed #1 was beaten by seed #5 at QF
    3) MD seed #1 was beaten by SEAFOOD (hope Kido has fully recovered J)
    4) WD seed #1 was beaten by seed #11 at Round of 16
    5) MS seed #1 was beaten by seed #7 at SF

All World Champ 2009 winners were seeded #5 or below :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Simple stats of the 5 winners

MS winner – Lin Dan (seed #5)
No of seeds beaten: 3 (seed #2, seed #2, seed#6)
No of sets dropped: 1 set

WS winner – Lu Lan (seed #7)
    No of seeds beaten: 4 (seed #2, seed #3, seed#5, seed#9)
    No of sets dropped: none

MD winner – Cai Yun & Fu HaiFeng (seed #5)
No of seeds beaten: 3 (seed #4, seed #8, seed#15)
No of sets dropped: 2 sets

WD winner – Zhang YaWen & Zhao TingTing (seed #5)
No of seeds beaten: 3 (seed #2, seed #2, seed#6)
No of sets dropped: 2 sets

XD winner – Thomas Laybourn & Camilla Rytter-Juhl (seed #7)
    No of seeds beaten: 4 (seed #1, seed #2, seed#3, seed#16)
No of sets dropped: 2 sets

According to the above information, which winner or pair would you pick as MVP of 2009 World Champs ?

My pick is Thomas Laybourn & Camilla Rytter-Juhl because they were seeded the lowest among the 5 winners and they have beaten the top 3 seeds, with Lu Lan coming a close 2nd J

I am must point out that China’s dominance is hurting the worldwide development of badminton, hope BWF could figure out something to help …….

    That simply proves..

..once again and as mentioned many a times by others, that the BWF world rankings don't mean much.
Btw, i concur with Laybourn & Juhl being the MVPs. They had, arguably, the toughest road to the title amongst all of the winners.

    Hmm..

..this is one of the biggest news so far in the whole WC..Is it true??..wait til this news gets passed in the "LD & XXF pics" thread..
..i haven't seen the entire match, but i wouldn't be surprised if CY & FHF actually had a better net game than the KORs by forcing LYD away from the net than usual.
