I am not sure what exactly you think is contradicting? I would like the rating system to focus on trying to more accurately rate players strength, and nothing else. And if BWF wants players to play more frequent tournaments etc. on the tour, I think they should look at other rules and regulations, not using the ranking system, as this will only discredit the rating system even more, giving too much rating points for lesser tournaments.

Mate you have said this many times in wanting to improve the ranking system but how...? and you'd given some opinions in post #35 and also post #38 talking about more ranking points and price monies in more elite level tournaments. Then, what you suggested in post #38 did not reflex well with post #35.

I also cited a few scenarios of what circumstances we would be looking at in post #36 if what you've said in post #35 did materialized and I opposed to it. Funny and irony enough, you opposed too but sounded like I was the one who came out with those idea but it was you.

Now, in post #42, you talk about rules and regulation already, which kinda drifting away it seems. I really think you are confused and we should leave this aside for professionals such as BWF.

    Cheers!!

we all know that there isn't such thing as 'perfect' system.

tennis has their own, winner for Grand Slams = 2000, next down ATP world tour 1000 = 1000, then ATP world tour 500= 500 and so on. And the loser get 60% of the winner in the final.

to be quite honest that looks better than ours.

interested to see what will the badminton list looks like if we apply a similar system for the last 12 months

ok, i've recalculated the ranking points adopted a similar system to ATP for MS and WS for the last 12 months (column AY below), i.e. the 5 PSS have twice ranking points as the 7 SS, and I've awarded the WC as 1.5 times PSS. Also, runner-up = 60% of winner, SF = 50% of RU etc.

as you can see there are hardly any difference for the top 5 for both systems, so the juries still out.

GOod views all BUT one thing i dont agree is LUCK! LCW has the "LUCK" going for him in the match and still lost (so near yet so far?) LCW has the lucky net shots, between the leg shots etc...

Only now that certain people knew that there simply cannot have the perfect system. Otherwise, there would be someone pop out of no where saying that BWF ranking system are flawed and so on.. every now and then... and have better suggestions. But when you probed further it was actually not a solution at all.

At the end of the day, it is the standard of the player himself, the level of consistency in terms of performance and participation that counts no matter what kind of ranking system being used.

By the way did any individual benefited solely from the current system or the pro and cons apply to all players? Anyone??
