i still see Denmark as the major threat at the moment...i was quite surprised by how inconsistent Japanese players are...

Jpn MD are a threat now, but the MS are not so much a threat.

China shoudnt worry about Japan for now since they are seeded second...

The worst is possibility having Korea drawn to meet them in the quarterfinal that's the **** part...because Korea made it thru to the finals with the skin of their as s.

So China should have no problems reaching the semis so to speak. I am seeing the road to the win this is not going to be easy for China...or maybe it's a scheme to make the Chinese victory more credible..

PG will lose MS1 for sure. From there on, DEN matches up well with CHN. Possible upset, albeit slim.

From the seeding i could roughly visualise the route to success for China and it doesnt look easy at all.

Their QF opponent could potentially be Korea (very high chance indeed). Denmark/Malaysia/Indonesia will be their semifinal opponent before they face Japan in the final should Japan succeed of course..

China really wants to justify their win in Wuhan..

BWF conspiracy...always favour other nations other than china :)

China will still win. Against Korea I can only see one match up that wouldnt favour CHN and that is the 1st MD. the others are pretty straight forward. Bottom line is now CHN have the sorngest of all MS, which means 2nd and 3rd MS are 90% CHN but they also have a top 5 ranked 2nd MD as well.....

I agree Denmark team could be the one potentially beat the China team. It is probably the only one. I think China know about this and treat it seriously and will have intensive training even miss India open SS apart from Chen Jin. Lin Dan and Chen Long are likely scoring two points for the China team. Where is the third points? On paper China can win the third points from any of the remaining three matches. I still think Chen Jin is the most reliable to score the third points for China even though HKV is a very good player. The chinese have more options about the second doubles and it is not necessary GZD and C B. It is not uncommon for china team to pair up two players that didn't play together in international competition for a specific games in the thomas cup. I always think Zhang Nan is a very good double player. With another good double player such as H W, the second double can be very promising. As for FHF and CY, I still think that they have a good chance to beat Boe/Mogensen. Compared with LYD and JJS, Boe/Mogesen really didn't have stamina advantage when they need to play the rubber game with FHF and CY. The other important thing to take into account is that Chinese team have home court advantage.

Now Chinese WS....who will likely to feature in the main line-up....will Li Xuerui squeeze past Wang Shixian to be the third singles player..that will be a shocker

    WS1 - Wang Yihan
    WD1 - Wang Xiaoli/Yuyang
    WS2 - Wang Xin
    WD2 - Zhao/Tian
WS3 - Wang Shixian or Li Xuerui ????

I dont know what's going with the WD1 lately they have been struggling with their game and have yet to win any title..Is one of them actually injured..

I would guess it is more likely WYH or WX didnt play a match or two and everyone got shifted up one.

Nothing much really for them to play for except the UC and Olympics. So I'd say they're trundling along in 2nd gear until the these tournaments show up.

I think Chinese WS line up will depend on which team they play. They will take into account the head to head of each of their players with their opponents. For example if they play Denmark team, I think one of the option is to get Wang Xin to play first single to meet TB. WSX and LXR can play WS2 and WS3. To be honest, Chinese Upper cup line up is very tough to beat. They may lost 1 or 2 points, I can't imagine how they lost three points. This team is much more experience and mature than the team which played in 2010.

It's impossible for them. Their doubles are extremely weak and they can be crushed easily by any pair.

Furthermore, none of the WS is consistent. Ratchanok can steal a point on a good day and Porntip is going through a bad time lately...

    So it's a no-no for Thailand.

Japan could beat South Korea if they meet. I guarantee you. Mitani Minatsu can rise to the occasion and beat the third Korean player in the decider.

You are always so negative about everything Miqilin Please try to be more positive and encourage others to perform well. Not be straight as an arrow.

What if I said Taufik will beat Lin Dan in this years Olympic final match, would you believe me ? and how much money would you give me if it really happened?

If everybody was like you, then nobody will watch badminton.

IMO, China have the best chance of winning Thomas Cup 2012. The strongest contenders for them would be Denmark followed by South Korea. Let me also compare possible outcomes of China matched up with the traditional powerhouses of the Thomas Cup namely Denmark, Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia:

    China vs Denmark - 3-2/4-1

LD vs PGC - Chn win
    CY/FHF vs MB/CM - 50-50
CL vs JOJ - Chn win
    CB/GZD vs JR/MCP - Den win
CJ vs HKV - Chn win

    China vs Korea - 3-2/4-1

LD vs LHI - Chn win
    CY/FHF vs LYD/JJS - 50-50
CL vs SWH - Chn win
    CB/GZD vs KSH/YYS - Kor win
CJ vs PSH - Chn win

    China vs Indonesia - 4-1

LD vs SS - Chn win
    CY/FHF vs MA/BS - Chn win
CL vs TH - Chn win
    CB/GZD vs MK/HS - Ina win
CJ vs TS - Chn win

    China vs Malaysia - 4-1/5-0

    LD vs LCW - 50-50
    CY/FHF vs KKK/TBH - Chn win
CL vs DL - Chn win
    CB/GZD vs LKW/GVS - Chn win
CJ vs MHH - Chn win

A win is a win, luck or not, below par or not, does not matter. And 1 thing to be sure about, INA players will play like their life is on the line. This is the tradition and should continue regardless the result. Perhaps many of us have forgotten how many times INA won the cup, with purely self determination againts the odd.
