Big-time international badminton hardly visits Sydney but when it did in 2000, I met some players. My favourite was meeting Rexy Mainaky. Rexy was all smiles, comfortable in English, willing to have a conversation, and not in a hurry. My friend pushed me in front of Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah and they kindly autographed perfunctorily. I walked up to Gong Zhichao and she kindly autographed too but I don't think she particularly wanted to be "cornered" by an English-speaker. Camilla Martin looked beautiful on the surface but you sensed danger in approaching her. A Japanese men's singles player Yamada and Danish doubles expert Jim Laugensen were approachable and popular. It is important to be a champion person as well as a badminton champion. And the players have to be focused too -- everyone adapts differently -- I understand, some people need to be more single-minded. I'd like to meet Zhao Jianhua. He appears to be a champion person.
I heard Xia Xuanze is pretty nice... takes the trouble to learn a few words of english for interviews.. anyone spoke to him before?
Ya,really miss him....Hope he can recover soon and come back to play badminton.I think many peoples miss him.So pity,he only can recover next year.Anyway, hope him can take care of his body and leg.
Wah... lots people vote for Wong Choong Han!!! I guest he really really nice person. (never meet him) For me Chong Wei is polite. And Cheng Hong & Gao Ling too!!!
yeah, i hope so he can recover.... asuncion_03 thinks the most polite player is Vic Chua A. because his your idol?? am i right???
nope.. i met him last PO, and he is a great guy.. he greats me.. hehehe.. and even they kost their game against the thais, he humbly accepted that..
Gao Ling would be my choice!she just can't stop smilling!she is soooooooooo sweet!and Lin Dan too....emm...sometimes....haha!
yes. i agree Gao Ling. Gao Ling always smiles n remains her aplomb. she always encourages her partners. she smiles even when she loses to her opponents n shakes hands with them.
As for WCH, haha.. I met him twice. One, at a shopping complex and the other one when he was playing pool. Didn't approach him though. Don't want to disturb him. As for most polite player, my vote goes to JR. I met him during the recent MO 2006. He is really polite and friendly.
Gao Ling is the most polite player. She is very friendly to fans. Whether successful or not, smiles are always on her face.
Hmm..that's what I thought previously until I met her, saw with my own eyes. Well, maybe the time I saw her, was when she was in bad mood. Anyway, if you do a search on this forum, I'm sure you will find other threads regarding what others have mentioned about Gao Ling. Here's what I found about Gao Ling : http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26236&highlight=Gao+Ling http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29832 http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34023&page=2
I met Peter Gade once and talk to him and sat beside him...what a nice man..he is so friendly and polite and even asked me to sit near him and the also the Danish team. I haven't met Lin Dan yet. I want to meet him and also Taufik as they are also my fave. O forget to mention WCH and LCW, seems they are nice and for LCW, maybe he's a bit shy.
