For me, it may not be the best idea to guess until the draw is released(or at least final seeding). We could end up choosing two people that end up meet before final.

Fully agree, it's the wildest speculation before seeing the draw.

If you assume LXR will make it to the final, then realistically there are only six or seven others whom she can possibly meet in the final.

Carolina Marin and Nozomi Okuhara are obvious choices, with Wang YiHan and Ratchanok Intanon being in good form recently.
However, Tai Tzu Ying isn't consistent, but she managed to get the ball rolling end of last year, so could also be there at the end.
And I wouldn't discount Saina Nehwal.
Sung JiHyun is the leftover, but she has won against everybody at least once.

Attention voters. Please note WSX has not been selected for Rio. You may change your vote, however.

It's difficult to vote without seeing the draw for contestants in the same half will not meet in the final.

Groups M, J, K and maybe P look like the only potential for an upset for the seeded players.

Not sure why you think Wang YH would lose to either of the europeans, nor why Sindhu would deign to lose either of her matches. Groups J, K and L all have a second respected player, but an upset would be a major surprise.

Group D may be the greatest chance for an upset, as Kirsty hasn't proven herself at top level, even though she should be beating her opponents.
Line Kjaersfeldt could push the Spaniard if she outperforms herself, but even then a win doesn't really seem on the table.

    That's why I said maybe ...

Well, Michelle Li has the quality to cause an upset...

I agree about Group A and D though

Michelle Li upsetted PVS twice in Glasgow CWG both in Indi and team event, giving India heart attacks. Although PVS has come a long way and since then LM is comparatively faded, plus PV is big event hit she won't have prob I hope!
    WYH won't loose a set,
Line Kjaersfeldt can gift SJH a lil extra tired CM, although the way CM is passing interviews about OG training etc, I doubt she'll loose a single set until she face LXR(/SN hopefully) in the SF.
If Linda outplays herself that's the only match I can see some potential upset, coz NO herself looks off colour.
Even if Linda Z. defeat Kirsty it wouldn't be an upset for me atleast!
SN got the easiest Group but the hardest possible R16 (PB looked great against the OG Champ LXR in her recent encounters) and LXR (the fav) in QF.

Li Xuerui will face Wang Yi Han in the final and Wang Yi Han will win the battle similar to Asian Games 2014. Then, she will retire with AG and Olympic Gold Medal on her hand. Li Xuerui will lose in the final because it is what always happen after London Olympic in 2012 as proven in WC 2013, 2014, and AG 2014. Carolina Marin was the best player in 2015 however after that, she never win anything except European Championship which is not an important title. Ratchanok Intanon was excellent when she won three consecutive SS titles however I doubt that she can beat Wang Yi Han in the Semi Final. Their H2H record is too lopsided even though she won in their last encounter. Saina Nehwal has a tough task to beat Li Xuerui in Quarter Final. Nozomi looks very beatable by anyone on Top 10 after her amazing performance in Dubai SSF 2015 and All England 2016. Tai Tzu Ying is too inconsistent.
I will be very happy if there is no China WS in the semi final for this Olympic as we saw in the WC 2015. However, I doubt that it will happen. I hope for the best, no China WS in the Semi Final, but I expect for the worst, All China Final like Olympic 2012 and Asian games 2014.

Its shocking that RI got the most no. of votes even though she is drawn with her nemesis WYH in the bottom half (which also sports the likes of NO and TTY)

    even
    WANG Shixian got 3 votes

so, collectively we think that WSX has better chance than
TAI Tzu Ying ,SUNG Ji Hyun and PUSARLA V. Sindhu combined
