With Yihan progressing to the finals of the Indonesian Open and Shixian falling in the semi finals, the race to Rio between these two girls feels more and more like a done deal. Especially so if Yihan wins the title against Tai Tzu Ying tomorrow.
With only 1 remaining tournament left (AUS SS) since the Top WS are not joining Taipei GPG, only Nozomi Okuhara that possible to be No.4. A little bit difficult for SJH to move upward her ranking.

Wang Shixian has got the sweetest smile, like an ancient Chinese beauty. Sadly, I doubt she's going to Rio, looking unlikely now.
Li Yongbo said Wang Yihan's main problem was unstable enough, prone to good and bad situation. Wang Shixian is relatively stable, but do not have no treat/force in the court. http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/badmin/2016-05-22/doc-ifxsktvr1050360.shtml
WSX will meet HBG again. The result would very much tell the decision regarding who is going to Rio has been made.
WSX will continue to play in TaiWan while LXR and WYH will stay in Beijin training and recovering. At this point, it is very obvious that LXR and WYH will represent China in Rio.
LYB is in a tough position. If he doesn't win gold in women's singles, then people will be asking him why he didn't select whomever he doesn't send.
Not really, I don't think anyone is disputing WYH is so much better than WSX in terms results against other top players. Anyway, it is unlikely China can win WS gold.
Poor WSX. She is 26 now and will be 30 in next Olympic. If Zhang Ning can win gold at 33 years old, why can't she?
We Maybe WSX is not ZN...also, ZN at 33 I think won her 2nd golden cookie. Really tough to play baddy and paddy for CHN..too many strong teammates. Come to Canada, once upon a time not long ago, we had a WS player Julien who play for Canada till 41 and she can still play on (no competition here)......but the problem is no funding from the govt, the players here have to find sponsors, prolly moonlight teaching at clubs to get free court privilege, book cheap flights online, get someone to donate free air miles...okay okay I am making this up but the first part about Julien is true.
Wang shixian's injure has really cost her a lot of points. In the china open 2015 she was beating li xuerui until something went wrong with her knee. She lost that match because she couldn't jump properly. She didn't play at the hongkong open and there were a lot of points, if she had progressed beyond the second round she would have more points.... such a pitty.
Good idea. Maybe WSX can ask LYB to let her move to Canada if she is not going to the Olympic. But then if she plays for Canada, then she will take away Michelle Li's spot. That's not good neither because I'm a fan of Michelle Li because we both are from HK. She can come to US.
But by then she has no assurance to be selected (again) if she is not selected while she's 26, why Li yong Bo should do that when she is.30?just my 1¢
I'm afraid WSX's problem is not her age but her style of play. If she had Zhang Ning's game, why not, she might well do it at age 30 in Tokyo ? I really, really feel for Wang Shixian for missing out the Olympics not once but twice even though she is so highly ranked and would've qualified hands down if not for the contrived BWF/IOC rulings. If only she were not a CHN player, which MA/NOC wouldn't gladly have her as she is a bright prospect for bronze if not silver or gold which she has an outside chance, I think.
Well, to be realistic, if WSX continues to stay on until Tokyo 2020, her chances will be just as slim as now, maybe worse as the likes of He Bingjiao, Sun Yu and Chen Yufei rise in the ranks, not to mention Li Xuerui who will most probably be still around as strong as ever.
