..okay, i know the M'sia Open SS is still going on and since i'm bored to death cos there are no new pics and reviews/reports of the M'sia Open to see and read, and since the T&UC Qualifiying Rds will commence in a few weeks, let's discuss or make our predictions on which countries will advance to the Final Rd. 12 teams will be representing. - China is automatically in because they are the defending champs. - M'sia is automatically in because they are the host. Now, how about the rest? Here are my prognostications for the Thomas Cup qualifiers: Asia (3) - INA, KOR & JPN Europe (3) - DEN, ENG, GER Oceania (1) - New Zealand Africa (1) - South Africa? PanAm (1) - It'll be either USA or CAN 1 lucky spot from either EUR or ASIA region (Higher ranked team between the next highest ranked teams from Asia and Europe based on the Ranking method as stated in Regulation 3.4.5) - THA, long shot HK Here are my prognostications for the Uber Cup qualifiers: Asia - JPN, KOR & INA Europe - DEN, NED, GER Oceania - New Zealand Africa - South Africa? PanAm - It'll be either USA or CAN 1 lucky spot from either EUR or ASIA region (Higher ranked team between the next highest ranked teams from Asia and Europe based on the Ranking method as stated in Regulation 3.4.5) - HK, long shot India * See below thread for updated team ranking: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79693 *3.4.5 Seeding: 3.4.5.1 The participating teams will be seeded based on the overall strength of the team. 3.4.5.2 The overall strength of the team will be determined based on the World Ranking list as stated in the date lines in Annexure I. 3.4.5.3 Total ranking points of highest ranked three singles players and two doubles pairs from each country shall be compared to determine the overall strength of the team. Where no world ranking is available the ranking points will be taken as zero. 3.4.5.4 On such determination, all the teams will be ranked in their order of strength. ..agree or disagree? let's hear 'em..
well, in womens team, Ina chance to advance is tougher considering the other competitors in region such as Tha, Sin and Tpe...but I do hope they'll advance....
Canada will definately represent the PanAm region on the men's side. For the women, Canada's depth of players should surpass the American women.
oops....sorry my friend...Hkg is defintely the one to watch....with Zhou Mi, Wang Chen, and Yippie.....they can definitely depends on them....well, Ina is not stronger as before esp in 2008 when they still have Lily/Vita and MKY is in her peak form...there's no certain point that we can rely on....:crying::crying:
Just remembered sad story when INA Uber team failed to enter final round of 2006 Uber Cup in Tokyo Hopefully it will not happen again this time!
Thomas Cup Asia (3) - INA, KOR, JPN Europe (3) - DEN, ENG, GER Oceania (1) - no idea Africa (1) - no idea PanAm (1) - CAN Lucky loser from EUR/ASIA - THA Uber Cup Asia - JPN, KOR, THA Europe - DEN, ENG, GER Oceania - no idea Africa -no idea PanAm - CAN Lucky loser from EUR/ASIA - INA
the slot for uber cup from asia is tightly contested by jpn, korea, thailand, ina ,hk and chinese taipei the match between these country will directly effect the outcome and dont forget that,if the sg player is on form they might be the dark horse
Can anybody suggest where I can see the draws for Thomas/Uber Asian Prelims? I want to see draw for India (not that I am hoping much from them but it is always alright to cheer for your country) Thanks in advance!
