Guys do u prefer old school manual machines or u go for those new age digital machines? My buddies and I always have this argument. Many say old school machines cannot ensure right tension. 27lbs on machanical machine has much more variations VS that on a digital machine. Can even do 26.5lbs!

Ya I always suspect if they did what I tell them. Did a experiment b4. Same string same racquet but different shop...feels quite different.

Totally agreed .One is more replusive..One is more tighter ..One is more durable in tension retention.. Experimented with same racket with different string . NBG98 @ 26" yet hit out of court compare to BG80 @25" which hit to baseline only . The sounds more 'Power' and louder for BG80 but with one stringer at tighter feel ..Shoulder may ached if keep jump smashing..NBG98 no such aching .. Same for NBG99 .

Guys, stringing is a very subjective or rather quite different from stringer to stringer. A certification is to show that stringer is probably undergone proper stringing course or attended exam. Most importantly is whether you like the string job and how you tell the stringer 2 or 4 knots, same lbs for main/cross or not, pre-stretch or not, etc... enjoy and happy looking for your favourite stringer.

    Good post.

I have tried a few stringers using the Yonex ES5 machine and the feel is different for each stringer. Just stick with your regular stringer if you like his string job.

I string my own rackets and sometimes i do it for my friends..for just S$16

from my experience, indeed, stringing and tension is very subjective. it varies from strings, rackets and even player conditions, skill, when the racket is stringed....

anyways to see how good is a stringing job, you have to look at 2 things.

    1) the centre vertical stringing tension
    2) the starting knots (cross)/the ending knots tension... a good starting and ending knot ensure that the racket is string correct without tension loss.

i guess this is no trade secret.. practice makes perfect!

i have tried Chris fr Elink AMK and Alvin fr Outstanding badminton (Kent Ridge), Chris stringing doesnt impress me, v loose 25lbs for a few times compared to Alvin's (actually didnt want the string, but since i bought raq from E Link and they give free strining......)

sadly i have to cut it and restring at Alvin

have been a Alvin/Irene regular for 1yr now

Any recommendation on where to re-string in the west area? Did a couple of search but most of the places that have such service in the west do not exist any more.

For outstandingbadminton, do we have to leave our racquet there for a few days for stringing or they can do within a few hrs kind?

Call Alvin to ask for a timeslot. Like seeing a doctor, he will give you one if he can on the same day. If not, then yeah....
