So far, I've mostly used bg-85s @ 25-28 pounds. All but one have broken on the main (the other time was from a bad stringing imo and it broke near the rim). I have also never had my string "pop" on me, they tend to fray to the point where the strings start moving on the bed, then it's around a week till it will break. Usually my strings last me 2 months of regular play.
Just broke my BG 66 white 25lbs. A backhand mishit on frame and string broke near centre/top. The main string break this time round.
I've only broken a cross string once. The rest of the times were main strings. I believe the only reason I broke the cross string was because the was no main string there to break.
do you use the racket to pick up the shuttle?????? bg 80or 85 from 11kg to 15kg ,the string broke in the middle at the main! MING
There are certain spots on the stringbed that are more prone to string breakage. If you have a habit of hitting these spots then your strings will break prematurely. To find out these weak spots, all you need to do is get your racquet and a shuttle and then find out the weak spots. Place the handle of the racquet, with the shaft and frame in space, and hold the handle down firmly on a table with your left hand and use your right hand to drop the shuttle from a height of 2 feet over the various spots that you normally hit the shuttle when you play. Spots that bounce a lot are very kind to your strings. Spots that have no or minmal bounce will kaput your strings more often than not. No prizes for guessing which is the worst spot.
get this guys ! i've had strings break on me in two places, they were the mains that were next to each other, needless to say it broke my racquet @@
always the vertical one for me.. if wear out usually around 2-4cm above the mid point... if a mishit usually closer to the top..sadly at 29-30p i go through a string in less than 10 games perhaps any different in playing for those who breaks vertical string and horizontal?....
Hmm..I only break vertical strings, I have never broke two at once. Wow..you go through a stirng in less than 10 games! That's a lot of money if you don't have a stringing machine.
luckily i can have bg65 for around 3usd... and i could freely use one of the machine at the court near home =D i still have no clue of why some broke vertical only and some broke horizontal. theres 2 things i could think of... 1. way of ppl hitting the shuttle 2. different tension of horizontal and vertical when stringing.
I've only broken my strings twice, because I'm still a newbie/intermediate player. They both snapped near the center.
hmmm...i dont know about u guys...but ive broken 3 strings this year and it was all on the cross.....always on the top 2 strings...lol i wonder how u all break the vertical ones
One place where strings often break prematurely is at the top of the racquet. The load placed on this spot by a power shot is fully felt with no energy being deflected. You can try this experiment : Place your racquet over a desk or table, with one hand pressing down the handle/grip on the table edge and the frame and shaft outside the table in free space. Using your other hand drop a shuttle from a 1' height onto the top of the racquet. You will observe that the shuttle will not bounce. Now do the same but drop the shuttle unto the sweetspot, and you will observe that the shuttle will bounce. The more repulsion or bounce the better the sweetspot. Now you know why the top of the stringbed breaks easily, as it should. We call it a mishit. This test is the racquet designer's ultimate test, plus another simple oscillation test, on any prototype racquet before being released into the market.
it breaks in the center (a little to the top) but not really sure the mains or the cross but i kinda remember i was cutting the cross first.
usually break the strings with a bit of a miss-hit, the price 2pay for high tensionand hin strings i guess! or wherever i cut them!
Ive never used any string other than bg-65s and those things are unbreakable O_O! Havent broken any strings to date!
