1. lose weight after gaining 14kg =( 2. get back the height of my old jump smash 3. train my footwork
short term goals: 1. to pass our school's club try-out. 2. to play with the club's captain. 3. to play at PRISAA regional meet. i love badminton because i love badminton!
my new short term/long term goal more so inbetween is to improve my preformance internationally as well as my world ranking from 526/690 (as of my ranking date today november 27,2008) in the world in mens singles to get into the top 300 in the world by november next year but more important than rank want to improve my preformance in tournaments themself and make it further in tournaments from future series to grand prix.
Short Term: -get back into playing more regularly at least -find a solid(regular) partner to play with in XD or MD -work on jump smash sweet spot -stop breaking rackets haha Long Term: -keep playing for life -find a job that leaves me $ and time to play weekly -Take the "trick" out of Trick Shots! =P
Have you consider HOW, what ressources would it require, or how many ressources whould you but into it, any dependencies? And have you ever before moved your ranking 300 numbers, is it realistic or to easy? How important is it to you, what would it mean/give to you (is the ranking the correct measure for you). Have you changed your training program to suit this new goal?
obviosuly yes i have considered all of this and im only 20 so i dont have dependencies to worry about. it takes minimum of 2 tournaments to keep your world rankiing over the course of a 12 month period your top 10 tournaments count towards your world ranking. now for my preformance in tournaments although making it to 3rd round in singles its not that bad but i do know that i will play tougher international players in the future. out of 10 tournaments to use in my ranking i have 2 so i have 8 more that i can play that will count towards my overall ranking as long as i make a decent preformance in them (aka not lose 1st round or in qualifying) then i will be able to achieve my goal. more so i want to medal in a tournament was alrady so close in doubles making it to quarter finals and then losing for a place in semis in a 3 setter 22-24 in the 3rd. ontop of what ranking will allow for me is to be able to skip qualification in big tournaments as well if i can one day make it high enough into the top 150 i would be able to get to world championships, but more so not have to go through qualification yes i know shouldnt have to worry about having to go through qualification if you have the skills but trust me it can most deffinetly be a pain to have to go through 3 rounds of qualifying just to try to make it into the main draw. and most deffinetly my training schedule and program will still be as intensive as before to meet my new goals and to achieve my goals im not going to just sit by and not try my hardest to go for this.
thank you, to be honest the only limiting factor with everything is money though as always, paying for training isnt the hard part its more so the travel to tournaments because well dont want to spend $1000+ to go to a tournament and not preform to my best or get utterly destroyed in qualification/1st round. but thank you i will do my best.
I met my goal at last, I beat the man I wanted to beat when I 1st started this thread. My new goal: To beat this same man (Kenny) in a match best of 3 To beat another brilliant player (Mark) in singles
Haha may aswell update mine. It was too make county squad, but as it happened i fell ill with pneumonia a few days before the tournament and couldn't play. So now i want to enter at least 3 competitions this year. At least!
Short Term After 1 Year off these are my short term and long term goals. Return to National Standard within 6-8 Months. Increase footwork, Stamina and fitness to peak level. Develop a perfect jump smash which is accurate. (I already have a monster smash just gota get my accuracy and aim back) Drop 10kgs. Return to Competitive A grade within 6 months. LONG TERM GOALS! Get graded From A grade to Open grade. Play at the Open Nationals. For My state. Progress to the national Squad for Australia. Become an international star for australia!!! Also im mainly concentrating on Singles. If i can find an appropriate partener then il take up doubles and mixed because i enjoy all 3 forms of the game. But singles is my favourate and was my strongest point before i took time off. (hopefully the long term goals will be achieved within 12 -18 months.)
Short Term : To perform better in a league match than I do in training, god I hate that. I think it's just pressure tbh ^^ Long Term : To beat a lad 2 years younger than me who is 6 feet tall and is training for the 2012 olympics. That's going to be long term..
My short term goal is to get through the first round in a singles tournament. I get the WORST draws... Long term is to get fit, and stay fit. But that's been my goal for about 5 years... so who knows. Maybe I should change that one :S. And I'll probably have to achieve my long term goal before I can achieve the short term one. Sigh.
I just joined a new badminton club recently. My first goal is to just get to know the people there and make friends. And when I've done that, I'm gonna try to beat them at badminton
