His name is Gu ZhengYu who was a member of the Shanghai badminton team. Same birthday (Jan 18) as Wang Yihan, one year younger.
She is not a very talented and intelligent player but considered the most hardworking player to bounce back from failure. I may be mistaken but to my surpise, Wang Yihan is the one and only female player NEARLY to reach a Golden Slam. She has won Major - World Championship - Asian Games Gold Individual and Team Event - All England - Sudirman and Uber team events - Defunct World Cup Trivial - World Junior and Asian Junior Championships - Summer Universiade. With only one Olympic title, she could be put on the same level as Lin Dan. However sadly the biggest flaw of her career is that she is unable to think critically and independently on her own when she is playing against compatriots. She tends to lose and play sub-par. Unfortunately the Olympic Gold Medal in London that was meant to be hers in ideally was in a way "stolen" by the backdoor Li Xuerui. The latter never actually get to replicate the same list of success as Wang Yihan did and she is a pretender to the throne. Until now, there's no female Golden Grand Slam winners and Wang Yihan is the closest to attain it .
