Hey guys! I'm almost an intermediate player, and looking for a new racket. I figure that my nano speed 2000 does not suit my style of play now (having chosen it with almost no badminton experience at all a few years ago). I usually buy Yonex branded items, but i'm fine with victor. Now, i prefer slightly head-heavy rackets, having borrowed one briefly from my friends before. I can get a voltric 7 for around AU $110, or a voltric 70 for AU $150. My local store sells rackets at an amazing price. :)

I can move pretty well, and can hit fairly well, but i need a little more "oomph" in smashes. I play doubles and singles and am equal in both. I also use feather shuttlecocks only. 100% no plastic. I also like medium-flex rackets.

BTW i'm still a student at high school :D

I'd be looking at a head heavy second tier racket in 4U.

Yeah everyone keeps mentioning the TK6k, but it's not exactly something I'd recommend to a high school student, even in 4U. To be honest, I think you'd develop skills better with a 'middle' racket around 300mm, like a BS11, MX60, F7, Arc11, etc.

The VT5 or 7 would be a good option on a budget, if you really insist on going head-heavy. I'd skip the VT70. Everyone is dumping it because a) The new VT70 E-Tune is out, and b) Nobody likes it.

Duly noted. Its best if the OP could test them out b4 getting one. In the meantime, would throw in BS12n into consideration...

VT70 isn't actually a bad racket. It was the first in voltric generation, and it was close to being perfect back then (with many reviews praised its performances). Many international players used it for few months, then came VT80 and everybody starting to forget about VT70. Then came out VTZF, and then again...history repeated! Latest was VT70e-Tune, but due to overprice reason (while VT80, VTZF, VTZFii are still expensive), i'd say VT70 is worth trying. Top-end racket at the price of mid-range racket..... rather than buying those VT5/6/7/8/9/Neo/etc...

Hmmm, I dunno. Moving up from a Nanoray 2000 (head-light, medium flex) to something "slightly head-heavy" for your both singles and doubles?

    Arc11?

VT70 is a very good racket. (slightly) head heavy, some flex (not as uberstiff as some other VT's). I like it very much (I don't own one, but have tested it durning training...).

Arc11 is a good choice as well!

If you want to buy something beside Yonex or Victor rackets, Li-Ning has a lot of head heavy rackets with medium flex.

I was a doubles and Mix player, some time, I play single, my racket is VT-ZFII-LCW-JP, 4U / 320 / 26lb / 66U, I really like to use this racket, but maybe someone is not suitable for this one, if you do'nt like it, I would recommend Victor BS12, this is the other good racket from beginner to top player.
