QF Summary Three Chinese women triumphed over their singles matches to make the semifinals at Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open Badminton Championship 2007 in Hanol on Friday. In the women's field, Wang Yihan, Zhu Jingjing and Wang Lin defeated their respective rivals from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand with the final scores of 2-1, 2-1 and 2-0, while their men compatriots Chen Yu and Qui Yanbo lost to their opponents from Indonesia and Malaysia with the identical score of 2-1. After the 20 matches on Friday, athletes from China, Indonesia, Chinese Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, New Zealand and Vietnam booked their tickets to the semifinals slated for Saturday afternoon. For the men's singles, three from Malaysia, and one from Indonesia secured berths to the semifinals, while the women's singles saw the advance of three from China and one from Japan. Chen Yu was defeated by Andre Kurniawan Tedjono 21-17, 11-21 and 12-21, and his left-handed compatriot Qui Yanbo was beaten by Wei Feng Chong 21-17, 10-21 and 15-21. Vietnamese top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh lost 2-1 to smiling Malaysian rival Hashim Roslin 18-21, 21-17 and 19-21 in a prolonged singles match. Chinese Taipei and South Korea each had two pairs of players to make the semifinals of the men's doubles, while the women's doubles had duos from Indonesia, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Chinese Hong Kong entering the semifinals.
