Not touching this stuff ever again. Tried a perfectly reasonable 32/33 job, no prestretch, and it went in the bag after one hour. Previous went after less than two hours of play.

    Fail.

Yep - walking past the lounge with my tea and heard a "TWINK!" from my bag.

Would have fp'd, but that would have made me drop my food.

No surprise. There's something bad about the coating on these. They're fray at 30lbs. I'll try snap a pic of the last time I ever had this done on my 8PS.

Yep - same problem with the Gosen.

They MUST be the same OEM, I'm convinced.

I'll tell you what is more fascinating. I saw the yellow version of these the pros had provided on reels to the local V stringers to do their rackets on slowly tear apart and snap before my eyes lol.

I had a similar problem with the VS 850s. Such a shame as I was hoping the 890s would be a good replacement

^^^ They are a good replacement. I have been using VS890 exclusively pretty much since they came out and have been very impressed with them.

I have noticed that the coating does seem softer than other strings, which can get damaged with less forgiving clamps but if you use good diamond coated clamps it's fine. Overall I find the longevity of this string not any worse than other strings I have used from Yonex but they have a less resilient outer coating to damage.

Oh, don't get me wrong - at sane tensions it's fantastic! But I haven't been sane for quite some time, now...

Neither have I! I must have strung 30+ racquets with this string at over 32lb tension, some at 34lb.

I think you got it backwards. Anything below 28lbs is insane, I don't know how anyone plays with those soft tensions when +30 feels so good.

Can someone give a comparison between vs-890 and bg80power? Which 1 has better repulsion and durability and tension retention? Which 1 has harder feeling?

Tension retention VS890 wins hands down. BG80P is a touch softer I would say but not by much. Difficult to comment on durability but for all intents and purposes, I'd say they're about the same.

Ic, thx for ur reply, so 890 is harder than 80p. Is 890 more powerful than 80p in smashing? How about repulsion?

5 hour session at 31/30 with 5% prestrech and all I can say is what a stunning string. I had somewhat forgotten what bg80 felt like after a new string every 4/6 days. But this stuff is gold. Perhaps the best thing I've ever used off a machine. I was laughing the entire time when I was knocking with it. I can't find drawbacks. Yeah power isn't up to Li Ning No.1 standard but do you care when the feeling is so good and control is unparalleled? I certainly don't. Perhaps BG80 will still be harder but this is so close and I haven't played with 80 for so long that I can't see a reason for buying any other Yonex string as a 80 replacement compared to this.

550 for BG80 Power, BG85. 300 for this. No brainer for someone who gets his racket restrung this frequently. Surprised people are snapping them this frequently. Perhaps I just got lucky.

It's definitely a winner for feel - probably the most "metallic" string I've ever tried.
Just wish I could trust it not to break.

You think my source has something to do with this compared to yours? I got mine from a victor premium dealer something instead of online. (Don't know where you purchased yours from)
