I think so. Not sure how will he even perform in Denmark & France if he even got there. He wont have many chances left to be in top 8 for OG. It will be Fuzhou,HK, INA & Malaysia Masters followed by AE and MalaysiaOpen,IndiaOpen.

I think that will be it. He can play in 1/2 TeamEvent to boost his points.

Oh Dear...My dream of seeing him witha WC Gold or OG medal is very much seems to be in danger because just next year in OG and by the time 2024 OG comes who knows we might have other new players at top...this is why i think its so important for players to give their best in majors and not these einy tiny tournaments...Oh God.

So I guess my OG dreams only rely on Li/Liu,PVS/CM, and FukuRota...But I will keep praying for SYQ and know he will surely win a Gold at WC 2021

Shi YQ surely will miss Guangzhou Finals at end of this year assuming he most likely will skip CHN Super 1000 & KOR Super 500 as well, only four big tournaments left (DEN S750, FRA S750, CHNS750 and HKG S500). A serious huge blow for China camp as men's singles practically is out of contest.

Shouldnt people be more worried of the repercussion of this injury. Whole generation could be over. It could be 3-5 years of Malaise. Not that SYQ has won as many titles as CL or will win as many (20SS) but without SYQ, i think we ll have to wait a long time for new CHN star.

At their peak, LD & CL has very strong legs. Does SYQ has that strong of a leg for someone very tall as well.

Thats the thought which worries me more..like who is the new young champ in china's camp ?With SYQ injured and CL in worrisome form and Legend dan playin for his fans..Im thinkin where is this MS department headed to.

Without Shi it looks so vacant..Honestly I have left all hopes all I can do is pray for hsi recovery...I think we might see KM winnin it all for his biggest threat SYQ is out of tournament.

Very sad turn of events for all SYQ fans.:(

Lindan can win if reads KM game.KM has become an expert in long rallies.if anyone wants to win against KM they should be ready to play long rallies without making errors

I don't think that's the way to winning against Momota. There's a reason he likes to play long rallys: Because no one in MS is better at it right now. To beat him you can't play with his strength, you need to attack him at his weaknesses. The problem with that is, of course, that he doesn't have alot of weaknesses...

And to do that persistently for 3 games needs a huge tank.
HSP in the recently concluded WC did took him on the wires in G1, but that's all. Even if he did somehow won that game, I seriously doubt his chances of winning the match eventually. That's barely 33% of the required work

Having said that, imo (and no offence to HSP) KM always looked calm, almost as if he knew he's gonna win (not only the match , but also the opening game). He looked like he's holding back , being sure he can still pull it off without revealing his entire arsenal.
So just attack isn't actually the "way" either.

When each and every other country here starts discussing about the strategy to beat Momota, wow, simply wow. That guy has become so good to beat nowadays.

Much more welcome discussion than some other pointless "medals" discussion.

I'm sure neither the coaches nor the players themselves like to have same nationality matchups in R1 or to have most of them bunched up in the same quadrant or all in the same half.

Only if u can match momota speed and consistency, then you can beat him.

Players have speed but do they have consistency? No.

It is really tough for him. He is similar with VA in terms of injury proneness. I have lost count how many times he got an injury. Now that he is already outside of top 8, he is in danger of being surpassed by the young and promising players.

I don't know. Too early to tell. If IND MS wants to have 2 players at the OG, at least these two players have to be within the top 16. The IND MS players do have the capability to reach to the top, but none of them have consistency. It is difficult to tell.
