Is there anyway of burning blank "ultra speed+" using normal Dell CD-RW combo drives?

I know this is a hardware issue, but could I flash / upgrade the firmware to bypass this problem?

    Thanks!

Is there any reason why you are in such hurry? There is only a few min differnt between 24X and 48X writting time. Also, faster the speed, higher the error rate.

I received some "ultra speed+" blank CDs, but can't use them with conventional CD-RW combo drives.

Without exerting too much on the monetary front (i.e. buy a new cd writer that bears this function) can I make do with my current cd writer

    Much appreciated!

May I ask what brand is the blank CD?

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

If you can go into control panel->system->hard ware->device manager->dvd&cd rom drive.
Check what brand of CD-rw drive you have.
go to http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php and download the newest firmware and updated it.
