TOYOTA THAILAND Open 2018 : Round of 32-FINAL (10-15 July)

I do wonder, when was the last time PVS won a tourney? Korea open last year?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Okuhara adjust her playing style a bit? I cannot remember that she did that many drop shots a while ago. Her ability/timing to switch from "slow pace/running" to "fast pace/aggressive" is amazing.

Nozomi is WS Champion at Thai Open WTS500 2018 !

She's simply better player than her opponent today. The clash is shorter than expected but some interesting rallies happen in second game when both players are demonstrating good retrieving skill to chase shuttlecock relentlessly until one of them making error.
Japan scoops three titles while Indonesia gets honour in XD and WD.

Next stop, SGP Open Super 500 line-up is filled by lots of second stringers, just poor time-slot as WC will come imminently

Mmm TakaMatsu lost.... Takahashi in particular looked terribly off today. Hope she’s not injured. Incredibly taxing to do well in 3 tourneys in 3 weeks (which really makes it unbelievable what Ratchanok Intanon did in 2016, in singles too!). They played 14 of the total 15 matches they could get to play. So with 1 champion, 1 runner-up, and 1 semifinal result, they actually performed best among their teammates in all disciplines. Congrats to them despite their loss today and hoping to see them back in top form in the WC!

NO said in an interview I think in Malaysia Open that she thinks she won’t retain the WC title as she’s not in her best form yet. With this result here in Thailand I hope she gets the confidence boost she needs in the WC! Sad that she wasn’t able to maximize her reign as this is her only title since becoming WC. Hope she gets drawn against TTY in the final for the ultimate showdown!!!

That injury did her no good. But she played agressively today which suggest that she is feeling pretty well.

However if she is not on top form it'll be difficult for her to play the Queen.

I wish she manage to get her form back.

Indeed, with so many tournaments to play now as required by the new BWF tournament structure, practically all the top ranked players who can only peak twice or at most, rarely, thrice a year, without exception, will be less likely to perform well in between the peak periods, so that offers a golden opportunity for the lesser players a chance to grab a title or two from the top guns.

Naturally, that means ill-timed tournaments like the Thai Open and the SIN Open WTS500 will suffer for lack of a star-studded cast. Even so we do get quite a number of highly promising and interesting prospects able to steal the limelight as some of the players ranked outside the top 10 are capable of upsetting the more fancied or favourite contenders.

This time round, the timing couldn't be worse as for Asian players there are actually two major tourneys to compete in, the Nanjing WC and the quadrennial Asian Games in three successive weeks, very demanding for sure.

Well they surely are "QUEENS" despite the fact that they ain doin good lately, their olympic Gold and Silver and all of their achievements cant be taken away from their career.

Rememebr there are players who might have been world no.1 but havent won an Olympics Medal and it hurts them till day..One example of it,Petre Gades..He has mentioned how winnin an olympix medal could have had fulfilled his career but he couldnt get one.

So yeah you might show both of them down but eventually they both have broken the STEROTYPICAL ASIAN Wall and both became the first in their respective countries to make badminton a prominent game and got its recognition.
And there could be nothin legendary more than this for the sake of Badminton.

And Yeah I get it Marin screams like the most at courts and probably the most shoutin player of the world but what she earned its all hers and the same for PVS.

Oh and I hope soon INA WS department comes up with some players like Susi Susanti etc cause at the moment I dunno which INA WS players u talkin about who are not even in top 20.

At the end.. You Might Hate them or Deslike them they will always be known as one of the best Badminton WS Players of their times.

Peace :)
Sind has a ways to go if she really wants to be remembered as a great, one fluked OG medal won't get you lots of entries in history books. Nobody celebrates Hendrawan these days, for example.

If you had read my comment you'd notice that neither am I saying anything about INA WS in general nor am I saying they're better than PVS or Marin - I'm simply interested in the one player mentioned in the post I quoted.
