To my understanding it is split up the tops evenly throughout the draw. Normally they are seeded on their rankings.
Yes, the idea of seeding is that you get the best games in the semifinals and finals. To achieve that, you pair up the upper half with the lower half of players in the first round. Assuming everyone projected to win does win, it's set up so that the upper half of the remaining players does now face the lower half of the remaining players and so on. Therefore, the players seeded at 1 and 2 will play each other in the final game instead of before. Conversely, the second and third places (and, if they matter, the other top spots) will be a better representation of the actual level of skill. Without seeding, the best player could eliminate the second-best one in the first round, and the silver medal would go to someone unrelated. A downside of seeding is that the first rounds can be pretty one-sided, as the best players face the worst. This is accepted since you do not want the superstars of the tournament to face off on one of eight courts on Tuesday morning - you want them in the TV court on Sunday. An alternative to letting the best players play the worst is a qualification tournament, where are all of the lower-ranked players duke it out. In scenario, the higher-ranked players don't play at all in the first rounds. Usually, the skill difference is still large enough to warrant seeding in the tournament though, even if it employs a qualification tournament to weed out the worst players. In seeding is usually calculated with the world rankings, and equivalent national rankings, tournament or even results in team games. While it is possible to set up an ELO-like ranking, the seeding is usually done by the tournament organization committee, which includes the referee.
thank you mates!! Now the seeding part is clear for me..but why is qualification process held at every international tournament??
Ehh to eliminate the weaker of the two ? Only with this elimination style will allow them to compete at meant different areas of the world. Each tournament will be held for around... 4 days? Badminton not like epl. If like epl it will never end man.
