TotalEnergies BWF WORLD Championships 2021 : R/64-Final (12-19 December)

Hardly heard or seen pictures of Mulyo training our top players. The local coach, Kelvin Ho, has been seen at various tournaments giving tips to LKY and YJM. Kelvin has once played for Singapore.

Yeah, I feel that many people are giving too much credit to people that were not there in the field. I think Kelvin Ho is the main guy involved in this success. You wouldn't send the least important guy to the World Championships.

Psychology matters.
After mid-game interval in game 2, Srikanth was playing better than LKY. But he made unforced errors at crucial moments. Had he managed to win that point, he would have likely won the game. And had he won the game, he would be in a better position to win the next as well. He was starting to read LKY better.

The word “would” is way too strong, you are just making wild extrapolations.

SK had already lost G1. At best he could just equalize to play G3. So how could he have won the gold?
I only mean psychologically he would have an advantage.
It's not like I or anyone can tell the future with certainty.

That doesn't take anything away from LKY. He was massively impressive. I can't remember when was the last the time in badminton that anyone had such a massive unexpected rise.

BTW, I always wanted to ask this - are you related to Loh KY?:p

Loh Kean Yew achieved what Lee Chong Wei could never have done. In fact, Lee Chong Wei bottled it many times even when the world champ is annually now !

Loh Kean Yew fought like a champ. He never let the previous point loss affect him. He kept fighting and diving against Srikanth's shots. Srikanth's shots are really good but too many unforced errors. The better player wins i guess.

Good attitude and character by Loh KY on court. This is something LZJ will never learn to develop. The moment i see LZJ flopped against an unfit Chen Long in Tokyo, i know for a fact he will be flop and does not have what it takes to win as a fighter.

Yeah, Srikanth Kidambi can't make errors like this if he wants to win a WC gold. Whoever gets to the other side of that bracket, be it Momota, Viktor Axelsen, LKY, etc, isn't going to make errors like Srikanth.

Heck, bring back prime LD, prime Chen Long, or prime LCW, they won't make mistakes like that either in the finals of the Olympics or WC. The errors cost Srikanth Kidambi the title. It's a shame really, I think he has what it takes, but he is so prone to unforced errors.

Congrats to LKY. The irony that Singapore won a WC title in MS before Malaysia has.
Kind of embarrassed, about the last paragraph of this post.

I wont be surprised even when a first African or Arab or South American winning the first world champ, Malaysia still has not won any.

The management along with the attitude/work ethics of the players are a big joke. They are not matured to handle big events and never will be.

My predictions for the other Finals:
WS - Tai Tzu Ying [1] vs Akane Yamaguchi [2]
WD - Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan [1] vs Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan [2]
MD - Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi [5] vs He Ji Ting/Tan Qiang [16]
MS - K. Srikanth [12] vs Loh Kean Yew

Hopefully, I can watch the MS and MD Finals live later....rooting for Loh Kean Yew to lift the biggest title of his career today!

Sad to say…but I feel that TTY had her chances for WC and OLY gold, but missed them both. At 27 years, today was probably her best shot at finally retiring with a major.

With supreme grinders like CYF, ASY and AY in the mix now, her prospects are bleak for next year’s WC if CYF is back and ASY isn’t injured, and almost non-existent for Paris.

Just goes to show…seize the chance when it’s in front of you.

Yup, 2017 was the best chance for TTY to win a WC. She will probably look back one day and regret not participating in the WC in 2017. You got to win it when you have the chance.

Old folks of BAM, man. They don't have a clue about what they're doing, really.
