At present, nobody in the chinese MS camp can get past quarterfinals of any tournament. Shi yuqi used to do it, but he is out due to injury.

That half smash by Antonsen is deadly. It's nice and steep, and Chen Long has a hard time retrieving it. Not only is Antonsen getting points from his half smash, but Antonsen is not expending much energy either.

Overall, I don't seen Antonsen wasting too much energy. This is bad because if it goes to a 3rd set, Antonsen will have a tonne of energy and stamina left.

Fajar's shot quality is just ridiculous, some imaginative shot that I don't even think kevin/hendra can play.

They'll be world champion fajar/rian. I don't think ahsan/hendra can stop them tomorrow.

He can't change his game. Chen Long has always been a "retrieval" player with consistency. He just retrieves everything you throw at him and feeds off his opponent's errors. Kind of like a wall.

You rarely see Chen Long using deception and getting the opponent to move in the wrong direction. That's just not Chen Long's game. And this will be his game going into the Olympics. Except that Chen Long seems slower now and his smash is less effective. We will see how Chen Long does at the Olympics next year, but I suspect that after the Olympics, if another player from China rises in the rankings, Chen Long will probably slip further and lose his position as a top 2 player for China.

So the evidence of Lin Dan and Chen Long playing in a weak era (where their best rival by far never won a single major title of World, Olympics, or Asian Games) growing more and more - their major title drought continues! Finally we have a strong era, where there are actually many decent players and not just 1 or 2!

Anyway, pity about Jonatan Christie, but at least he's still Asian Games champion and has time on his side.

For WS, undisputed that we are in the strongest era of all time - basically have a "top 10" or so that can beat each other on any given day. TTY World/Olympics drought continues!
