I'd still think they might need to reduce the winning points for a game in Women's. Before this rally point system WS used to be 11 pts a game instead of 15 pts. That longest match of all time 150 minutes, though it was captivating for many, I thought it was rather grueling to see both players to be on the floor panting and gasping for breath for every point in the last game. In some point of view it was a "disaster". What if those matches repeated every day? Surely some of the WS players had already been struggling with their physical stamina at the moment and it is understandable. Not all women was born with strong physicals and you can't force them to do boot camp just to match up their stamina with those who were born with natural durability. It could damage some body parts that is crucial for some future arrangements.
Considering the longest match is an outlier, outside of the 95% confidence interval limits (assuming normal distribution) I really doubt we will see many repeats.
Um.. was there any meaning to the "What if" I added at the front? Wasn't really talking about the length of the time duration though. More about the physical part of it. Just trying to point out that they used to be easier to the females. Seeing that the competitive rate of WS is getting higher and higher, so is the possibilities of longer matches. Lately the battle of WS kind of decided by physical stamina despite the skill of the players posses which is a bit shame. Anyway just a thought.
You know what happened in the history of badminton ? IBF tried to reduce the number of points of mixed doubles from 15 to 11 in games (old scoring system). They got taken to court about it. And then the scoring system became standardised throughout being equal for men and women. IBF = International badminton federation then precursor to BWF
Oh I must have missed that. Also women's doubles? Guess I had been away too long. Apologize for my ignorance.
JPN will destroy all CHN WS regardless who they are fielding in the final. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
'Destroy' is an exaggeration ? Don't be too sure, Chen Yufei vs Akane Yamaguchi (Fighting chances), He Bingjiao vs Nozomi Okuhara (JPN's to lose), Gao Fangjie vs Sayaka Takahashi (50-50), my prognosis.
LOL if RI can’t defeat AY, CYF surely can’t. Nozomi will eat HbJ and toy with her. She won’t last 3 set. I give you GFJ can get a pt vs Sayaka. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I feel sorry for LCW, TTY, CTC that their teammates are just not that good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It doesn't necessary work like this - if A can't beat B and B can't beat C, so A will definitely lose to C. You seem to have forgotten IR has lost all four times they've met in a row to CYF previously but only managed to win in their 5th encounter. However,I admit AY has the edge but no guarantee, definitely not one-sided. HBJ , according to XXZ was recently slightly injured in her ankle during training, no wonder she skipped the CHN Simulation Match (substituted by CXX) the week before the UC, for which she also stopped training for more than 10 days; hence after her loss at the group stage, she was sidelined as XXZ noticed her movement was somewhat hampered. As such, I've no illusions she stood any chance against Nozomi, just to fill the number so that GFJ can be slated for WS3 as LXR is the reserve player, the lowest ranked of the four CHN WS. Gao Fangjie , you conceded but I only gave her 50-50 chances vs Sayaka Takahashi who is much more experienced. In conclusion, it's still possible CHN WS lose all three WS, but 'destroyed', less likely, only LXR as WS3 would be destroyed, I concede. My hope is more on GFJ as WS3 giving ST a run for her money, in a pressure-cooker tiebreaking situation, anything can happen.
Just wonder whether BWF covers part of the cost of the participating teams, if so, how much or what percentage?
AFAIK there is no travel grant for Thomas/Uber Cups. BWF usually covers some travelling cost for World Junior Championships. And last yeae they also have travel grant for Para Badminton World Championships.
Thailand was no match for Japan, they're too bloody good. Thailand should be congratulated for reaching the final for the first time ever though. Everyone knew Japanese women are a new power force.
LOL, I think they declined the TUC even before the European Championship -- which they participated in "full force"... Certainly, there may be an issue with the depth of their teams -- which CAN "solved" by having their MS & WS double for MD & WD... so it's really all about how much you want to play in the TUC? And how much $$$ you have to do it, of course!
