yes, i played there, not exactly one of my best tournaments... c flight semis in singles and a flight round of 16 in doubles....

not helpful that my partner has a ridiculously weak smash.... but we get by... at least we are going to ofsaa...

Trust me TDotSmAsHer, I'm probaly the one that has to travel the farthest difference.
I'm in Mississauga, but it only takes me 15mins of travelling time because my bro drives at 200km/h the whole way...:p
It usually takes us 45mins if there is no traffic jam, assuming that we drive close to the speed limit.

L'am is not the place to go now..

L'am is ok on Saturday as there is space to play there. Do not go on Sundays 8:00am-2:00pm. There is limited space. If you're not a long time member then you won't get too chances to play. Problem is around 12 Mainland China people have been regulars for about 2 months. They hog the court and skill level is beginner. I would definitely go Saturdays to L'am, 8:00pm-11:00pm.

Well, my brother got a ticket once for speeding on the highway doing 139km/h in a 100km/h zone. This was because he was travelling from Toronto to Kingston....hehe...

Chu Pa... could you tell me the times for Friday/Saturday/Sunday at L'am? Thanks I appreciate it!

If I go Sunday.... I thinK I will see if I can get someone to come with me! I'm only somewhere between beginner-intermediate but friend is advance! I'll get him to smash really hard in the court hogger's face and scare them off the court... loll (that's if what you said about the mainland chinese people is actually that bad)

    Well...

The Mainland Chinese people are ok except they just hog the courts. They understand that if their skill level is not good they won't play with the better players. That is a good thing. :) I don't think L'am needs more people on Sundays. Already jam packed. From what I heard from the regulars. If you are an intermediate player then you can definitely come and play on Sundays. I understand as space is limited and having better games with better players is a plus. Nanashi, have I seen you at L'am on Sundays?

I been playing badminton for some time but forgot to how to smash there was a certain way I used to smash that gave me a pretty hard smash but i stopped playing for a year and when I got back into the game my smash was really slow. I'm thinking of getting some training for Jen Lee maybe just to get my smash like how it used to.

Nanashi you get training there right is it helping?

To TDotSmAsHer dont put yourself down by saying you suck, everybody starts somewhere. You can't master badminton in 1 day it takes years. When do you guys want to meet at Lee's these days? I might bring my friend twin bro with me, we need to pratice our doubles for the York Tourny next year.

Let's not go to Lam last time I went there they wouldn't even let me play and it wasn't even full, and we they never gave me and my friend a reason. THey looked at me if I was a criminal it was horrible. I was trying to give them my cash but they wouldn't take it I was confused.

    When was this?

Will, was this Saturday or Sunday at L'am? I know Saturdays are quite packed sometimes. Sundays, packed since the Mainland Chinese people started playing.

At Saturday in the summer, I still remember this very well. Me and my friend heard that this was a good place to play and we decided to check it out, so we walked from finch to lam, took us like an hour and we kept on getting loss, when we got there, I was asking where to pay and they say only members. I was thinking but the people at bady central didnt' say anyting about the being a club member. Then I asked how do you become a club member they say you need to know a club member. When they told me that I was thinking thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard. If you need to know somebody to be in the club how the hell was the club formed if you need to know an existing club member?

A better question for you guys, who brought mainland chinese people there? + how do you know there mainlanders?

    They just came myself.........

I'm a club member but I rarely go on Saturdays. When I started going in 2000, the treatment was not that good either. Mainly, the organizer's wife is quite strict. On Sundays, Ken the organizer is much more friendly and allows everyone to play except if it gets overcrowded. Try to go Sundays early around 8:15am and play till 10:30am. At 10:30am they close three courts as they are used for golf classes. That leaves 6 courts. 2 are used for badminton classes. Which leaves 3 courts for roughly 25-30 people. I go Sundays because the people are more friendlier(sp?). Why the Mainland people know L'am? Word of mouth, BC, or Toronto badminton website. If you are HK, you know the difference between Mainland Chinese and HK people. The way they dress and they speak Mandarin.
